Prayer: Father, may my faith be strengthened by the example of a prostitute. Amen.
Reading: Joshua 2 key: vs. 9
9 and she said to the men: “I know that Adonai has given you the land—dread of you has fallen on us and all the inhabitants of the land are melting in fear before you.
Attention: Have you ever just met someone for the first time, and they poured forth a word of affirmation or a prophetic statement? I was visiting Portugal in 2015 and on my last day of vacation, I met an Assembly pastor named Samuel. He was Brazilian-born and only spoke Portuguese. Through an interpreter, he told me where I was from and immediately invited me to speak in his church that evening. I was surprised at his invitation because he didn’t know me, and we had never met. Yet, we both possessed a familiarity with each other because of our bond in the Spirit.
Rahab had never met the spies which Joshua secretly sent out to spy Jericho, yet, she immediately proclaimed to them, “I know that Adonai has given you the land.” She didn’t personally know Adonai, yet she knew and believed what was about to happen. She had only heard of His mighty acts on behalf of the Hebrew children. Her belief compelled her to ask for favor for her and her family. Her belief compelled her to provide safety for the two men.
Rahab’s faith is registered in the New Testament in three places: Matthew 1:5, Hebrews 11:31, and James 2:25. If you are not familiar with those passages, I encourage you to take a moment and see how her name is mentioned, for Rahab is included in the lineage of the Messiah, included in one of the great chapters on faith, and her faith is documented by James (Jacob).
She knew that she knew that she knew. May we all discover that we know by the Spirit of God, that He is Adonai, the true God.
Action: I choose by faith to know that Adonai is the One true God.
Yield: I choose to surrender to the Lordship of the Messiah.
Engage: I choose to engage in the act of faith which Rahab exhibited to the spies.
Relationship: I choose to know Adonai in full intimate relationship by faith.
Prayer: Father, by faith, I know that You are the Supreme Authority in heaven and earth. That just as Rahab knew You are the Great I Am, I can know You too. Amen.
