Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see how Your word spans centuries and applies to today. Your word is like You, eternal. Your instruction is for me, today. Amen.
Reading: Ezekiel 17 key: vs. 24 “Then all the trees of the field will know that I, Adonai, have brought down the high tree, exalted the lowly tree, dried up the green tree, and made the dry tree flourish. I, Adonai, have spoken and I will do it.” TLV
Attention: Adonai uses parables throughout the bible to convey a message or story in illustrative form. There are several types of parables, yet a common theme for many parables is about the kingdom of God.
Today Adonai uses eagle to convey His sovereignty in the affairs of a nation. His hand is actively involved. He plants and tears down as the consequences of the breach of covenant with Babylon when they ran back to Egypt for help.
However, Adonai promises restoration in vs. 22-24. Notice all the “I will” statements as God declares His sovereignty.
I testify to the faithfulness of God in His desire to restore me after years of unfaithfulness. He remains faithful as a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Action: I choose to learn from my sin and poor choices, to repent and lean on Him who is faithful to restore.
Yield: I choose to live in obedience to Adonai.
Engage: I choose to live life in engagement with the Holy Spirit.
Relationship: I choose to live in obedient, intimate relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, You have spoken to us in many parables to tell us in simple forms how You work with us and for us, and how we are to relate to You. I reflect on the years in which I sought my own way. I repent of my actions and seek Your forgiveness. Thank You for Your faithfulness and restoration. Amen.
Memory Verse: Psalm 51:19 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” TLV
