Prayer: Father, establish Your Word in my heart, mind, and mouth. May I embrace the identity which You have given me. You formed me in my mother’s womb. You purposed and called me from my mother’s womb. Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 49 key: vs. 1-4 “Listen, to Me, islands! Pay attention, peoples far away. Adonai called Me from the womb, from My mother’s belly He named Me. He made My mouth like a sharp sword. in the shadow of His hand He hid Me. He made Me a polished arrow, He has hidden Me in His quiver. He said to Me, “You are My servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.” But I said, “I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and futility. Yet surely the justice due to me is with Adonai, and my reward with my God.” TLV
Attention: One of my favorite passages of scripture was penned by King David about how God knew him intimately before he was formed in his mother’s womb. One of the characteristics of God is His pre-knowledge of life and events. David’s narrative reads like this;
“For You have created my conscience. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You, for I am awesomely, wonderfully made! Wonderful are Your works— and my soul knows that very well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was unformed (Psalm 139:13-18a).”
Isaiah declares he was designed and known by a personal Creator. He was called from the womb and his calling was written well before his birth occurred. Then he declares that the nation Israel was made for a purpose, “as a light for the nations” (vs. 6b). They failed their design and God brought Isaiah to them for the purpose; “to gather Israel back to Him” (vs. 5b).
Have you discovered your God-designed purpose? Isaiah declares that God “named” him, “called” him from his mother’s womb and “made My mouth like a sharp sword,” …and “made Me a polished arrow.” As Isaiah declared the word of God to the Hebrew nation, he was an instrument of powerful words which were piercing to the hearts of his nation.
What has God gifted you from birth to do as His declared agent? We are all to be His light to the world. We are to use our gifts and gifting to point the world to the Messiah. Are we appointed to help turn our nation and world toward the Messiah? Are we busy about His work? Do you embrace the words of David about being “awesomely, wonderfully made?”
We have a wonderful, loving, intimate Creator. If He has revealed His purpose for your life, I hope you are living it to the fullest. If He has not revealed it, I hope that you are in active search of your purpose. Knowing your purpose is empowering and fulfilling.
Action: I choose to seek and know my God-given purpose for His kingdom.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for revealing to me my God-given purpose. May my journaling not only inspire my life to a lifestyle of obedience and intimacy with You, but may others develop an intimate relationship with You because of the Choose Life journaling plan. Amen.
