A Shoot Will Come Forth

Prayer: Father, I thank You for Isaiah and the prophetic word You spoke through him. You are faithful, always telling us what You are going to do and doing it. Amen.

Reading: Isaiah 11 key: vs. 1-5 “Then a shoot will come forth out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch will bear fruit out of His roots. The Ruach of Adonai will rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and insight, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Adonai. His delight will be in the fear of Adonai. He will not judge by what His eyes see, nor decide by what His ears hear. But with righteousness He will judge the poor, and decide with fairness for the poor of the land. He will strike the land with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. Also righteousness will be the belt around His loins, and faithfulness the belt around His waist.” TLV

Attention: As a child I recall large gardens and spring plantings. My parents were both Nebraska-born, and farm-raised. My mother used to say, “You can take the farmer off the farm, but you cannot take farming out of the farmer.”

If you have been around a gardener, you know what it is like to see a stem pop up out of the soil. It is a miracle as a seed springs to life and issues a shoot.

Adonai declares through Isaiah, “Then a shoot will come forth out of the stem of Jesse.” Who is Jesse? I direct you to 1 Samuel 16. Isaiah is being directed back to the time of Samuel, when he was directed by Adonai to anoint a new king to replace Saul. Where was he directed but to the house of Jesse. There he anointed David, fulfilling the prophecy given to Isaiah and referenced at Messiah’s birth (Matthew 1:6; Luke 1:32).

Please take notice that the prophecy points to Yeshua as Messiah and Judge. Fortunately, “He will not judge by what His eyes see, nor decide by what His ears hear.” He will judge with “righteousness” and “fairness.” Something which man may attempt to do but because of his biases and prejudices, fails miserably. Man oppresses man, while Yeshua frees. Our common enemy takes life. Yeshua gives life.

I encourage you to receive the gift of life in Messiah Yeshua. Life only comes through the Messiah prophesied by Isaiah.

Action: I choose to embrace the Messiah of whom Isaiah prophesied.

Yield: I choose to submit to the Messiah of the scriptures.

Engage: I choose to engage in the worship of Messiah Yeshua.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimate relationship with Adonai through Yeshua.

Prayer: Father, Your Word is amazingly accurate and detailed. Through mouth and pen of Isaiah, You declared Your Son would come through the stem of Jesse. All was fulfilled through the line of David. Thank You for fulfilling Your Word and being faithful. Amen.

Memory Verse: Isaiah 11:1-2 “Then a shoot will come forth out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch will bear fruit out of His roots. The Ruach of Adonai will rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and insight, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Adonai.” TLV
