A Sign of Covenant

Prayer: Father, You provide those who are Yours, as sign of covenant. I belong to You because of the circumcision of my heart. Amen.

Reading: Isaiah 52 key: vs. 1 “Awake, awake! Clothe yourself in your strength, Zion! Clothe yourself in beautiful garments, Jerusalem, the holy city, for the uncircumcised and the unclean will never invade you again.” TLV

Attention: Adonai instituted the covenant of circumcision with Abraham, “This is My covenant that you must keep between Me and you and your seed after you: all your males must be circumcised. You must be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and this will become a sign of the covenant between Me and you. Also your eight-day-olds must be circumcised, every male, throughout your generations, including a house-born slave or a slave bought with money from any foreigner who is not of your seed” (Genesis 17:10-12).

The sign of circumcision was a sign of obedience and identification. Circumcision became the sign of nation who belonged to Adonai. Because of this single act, the Hebrew males who belonged and identified Adonai to be their God and they His people, were easily identifiable. No other nations practiced circumcision.

With the advent of Messiah and the sending of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2), the act of circumcision became a point of contention between Hebrew (Jewish) and Greek followers of Yeshua. I would encourage you to read the entire chapter of Romans 2. Paul sums up the action of circumcision by saying this, “For one is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something visible in the flesh. Rather, the Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart—in Spirit not in letter. His praise is not from men, but from God” (vs.28-29).

It is not important that you or I become Jews outwardly, but it is critical we become Jews inwardly.

Action: I choose to identify with Yeshua by being circumcised in my heart.

Yield: I choose to submit my heart to the Lordship of Messiah.

Engage: I choose to engage with Messiah as a Jew in my heart.

Relationship: I choose to live in obedient, intimate relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, I identify with You through the action of circumcision in my heart. I choose to be obedient to Your commandments and worship You in Spirit and Truth. Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 2:28-29 “For one is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something visible in the flesh. Rather, the Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart—in Spirit not in letter. His praise is not from men, but from God.” TLV
