A Spirit of Stupor

Prayer: Father, Your prophetic declaration spoken and recorded by Isaiah centuries before Yeshua quoted in the Temple. Amazing, You are amazing. Your foreknowledge underscores Your Supremacy. Everyone is performing according to script. Your plan is everlasting. Amen.

Reading: Isaiah 56 key: vs 8 “Adonai Elohim, who gathers the dispersed of Israel, declares, “I will gather still others to him, to those already gathered.” TLV

Mark 11:7-8 “What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained; but the elect obtained it, and the rest were hardened— just as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes not to see and ears not to hear, until this very day.” TLV

Attention: When Adonai declares, “I will gather still others to him, to those already gathered,” could He mean Greeks?  Aren’t you glad that the Hebrew nation rejected Messiah? As a result of their rejection, God extended grace to the Greeks, you and I and anyone who is not Jewish. Greek believers, followers of the Way, were grafted into the wild native root of the Hebrew Covenant and God gave the Jews a spirit of stupor.

I have wondered in recent years if God has given a similar spirit of stupor to those who claim to be followers of Jesus but do not acknowledge the trance which the world is under. They do not acknowledge the spirit of this world which has captured the narrative of the church. Have you ever experienced the spirit of division among the church over justice, gender, abortion, politics, theology, and partiality among races as we have in today in society and church denominationalism? Are we reading the same scriptures? We even have division over the translation of scriptures. Are you still using a translation of a translation? Or have you turned to a translation of the original manuscripts?

Are you being told what you believe by your pastor and your denominational choice? Or are you searching the scriptures like the Bereans of Acts 17? Are you taking responsibility for your salvation, by searching the scriptures to confirm the truth of what you are being taught? Even the Bereans searched the scripture to confirm and not to refute what they were being taught.

I encourage you and challenge you to establish a daily lifestyle of seeking God through and with the Holy Scriptures. Just as Paul declared to the Roman community of faith, “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2a). We all stand in need of having our minds transformed from the indoctrination of this world.

Embrace the transforming power of the scriptures. I guarantee you will be transformed by the Spirit of God and His Word.

Action: I choose to engage in the process of being transformed by the Spirit and the Word.

Yield: I choose to submit to the authority and Lordship of Yeshua.

Engage: I choose to engage in the process of transformation by the Word and Spirit.

Relationship: I choose to live in obedient intimate relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, I love You and Your Word. I pray for continued transformation by Your Word and Spirit. Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 8:29-30 “For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified, He also glorified.” TLV
