Abundance Manifested

Prayer: Father, according to Your Word, You blessed Solomon, because You were “pleased” with his response to your question, “Ask for what should I give you (1 Kings 3:5b)?” You were so pleased, You gave beyond his response, giving him a “wise and discerning mind (3:12b)”, there will be no other king like you before you or after you, “riches and honor (3:13b)”, and “if you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days” (3: 14). May I learn from Your words, the keys to a successful relationship with You. Amen.

Reading: 1 Kings 4 key: vs. 20 “Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea in abundance, eating and drinking and rejoicing.” TLV

Attention: I once heard a story about a father who proposed to his son a summer reading plan. He promised to pay his son a given sum for every book he read from his approved list. His belief was that reading certain books which were written by successful businessmen, would lead his son to riches too. I do not recall the outcome, whether the son went on to become a successful business life; however, his example establishes a principle of success. It is critical that we seek the counsel and example of those who lived before us. In Solomon’s example, God told Solomon, the secret of wealth, wisdom, long life, is found in obedience to His Word, His statutes, and His commandments.

Notice that God downloaded his counsel to Solomon in his sleep and Solomon “awoke and took note of his dream.” Solomon immediately took note, he wrote God’s instruction down. He journaled about what God had told him and God blessed him beyond his request.

From that moment, Solomon immediately, “went to Jerusalem (the new center of worship), stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up burnt offerings and fellowship offerings.” He worshipped Adonai, and Adonai blessed Solomon with abundance. From the overflow of Solomon’s blessing, both Judah and Israel were blessed, they “were as numerous as the sand by the sea in abundance, eating and drinking and rejoicing (vs. 20).” All of Israel was rejoicing over the abundance with which God was blessing them.

Action: I choose to seek God’s blessing by being an obedient follower of His commandments and statutes.

Yield: I choose to yield to God’s formula for success and blessing.

Engage: I choose to engage in the process of obedient following of God’s commandments and statutes.

Relationship: I choose to live in obedient, intimate relationship with God.

Prayer: Father, I love You. I love Your scriptures which are a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I ask Your Holy Spirit to be my mentor and guide. Teach me truth and wisdom. Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalm 119: 105-106 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed to observe Your righteous rulings.” TLV
