Prayer: Father, all praise to You. I thank You that Your mercies are new every morning! Amen.
Reading: Psalm 67 key: vs. 2
2 May God be gracious to us and bless us.
May He cause His face to shine upon us—Selah
Attention: I want to encourage all the Choose Life participants this morning to embrace the long-haul concept of establishing the discipline of a daily lifestyle of time with God in His Word. While you make discoveries daily, it is only the long haul that you will notice and ask yourself, where have I heard this statement before?
Today’s key verse is a portion of the Aaronic Blessing which Moses spoke over the children of Israel (Bnei-Yisrael) found in Numbers 6: 24-27. Who is Aaron? Moses’ brother. In the whole of chapter 6, God (Adonai) gives Moses instruction about the Nazarite vow. This is a vow which we see in the lives of Samuel, Sampson, and Jesus. Jesus was a Nazarite.
There were three distinct requirements of the Nazarite vow. To keep the vow, one must not drink strong drink, must not defile themselves by touching the dead, and no razor shall touch their hair. The hair is allowed to grow uncut. I encourage you to read Numbers 6 to secure a complete definition of the Nazarite vow.
The Numbers accounting of the Nazarite vow ends with, may “Adonai turn His face toward you and grant you shalom.” That is a significant omission because now that I have received His peace, I do not want to live without it. May you experience His peace today and throughout your life.
Action: I choose today to receive the peace which comes through relationship with God in Jesus Christ.
Yield: I receive His peace when I yield to Him.
Engage: Peace is the result of a submitted, engaged life with God.
Relationship: When I am obedient and submitted, peace is given me by God.
Prayer: Father, I forfeit peace when I fail to obey and submit to You. May I always desire peace more than chaos and turmoil. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Memory Verse: Numbers 6: 24-26
24 ‘Adonai bless you and keep you!
25 Adonai make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you!
26 Adonai turn His face toward you and grant you shalom!’
