Prayer: Father, making wise choices is one of the greatest lessons we can learn. Seeking Your counsel to make life’s decisions is the foundation for making wise choices. Help me to make wise choices. Amen.
Reading: 2 Samuel 17 key: vs. 14 “Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” What then shall we say in view of these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? so that Adonai might bring evil upon Absalom.” TLV
Attention: The Apostle Paul asks this question of the Roman followers of Yeshua, “What then shall we say in view of these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). The answer is, no one.
David was the anointed king of Israel. Anointed of God and anointed by man. He was God’s chosen. What Absalom was doing was evil and God was not going to allow it. It is important to note, in verse 14 the words, “For Adonai had ordained to thwart Ahithophel’s good counsel.” If a matter is “ordained” of God, it will happen. Case closed.
We see the result of God thwarted action in Ahithophel taking his own life. In the next chapter we witness the demise of Absalom. His end did not need to come to him this way. It was his own lust for the throne and desire to be king which brought his downfall.
Allow God to order and ordain your path. David waited and allowed God to bring him to the throne to which he was anointed. Unlike Absalom, David did not take God’s timing into his own hands. He humbled himself and waited.
Action: I choose today to wait on the Lord for His timing to bring me into His determination for my life.
Yield: I choose today to yield to the Lord’s timing.
Engage: I choose today to engage with the Holy Spirit in leading and ordering my life.
Relationship: I choose today to live in intimate relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for directing my path. Keep me from making anxious decisions which tend to get me ahead of Your design. Amen.
Memory Verse: Romans 8: 31 “What then shall we say in view of these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” TLV
