Prayer: Father, what a fabulous morning to meet with You. Turn Your ear toward me this morning. I desire Your instruction. Amen.
Reading: Psalm 116 key: vs. 17
17 To You I will offer a sacrifice of praise,
and will call on the Name of Adonai.
Attention: Have you ever been conflicted or afflicted like the psalmist admits today? He paints his despair as “ropes of death entangled me, and the torments of Sheol found me. I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of Adonai: Adonai, save my soul!”
Salvation comes from Adonai. Even before Yeshua, the Messiah, the psalmist knew that salvation comes from Adonai. “For You delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.” Most of us like the psalmist, must be “brought low,” before we look up and cry out to the Lord.
Eventually, the psalmist asks himself, “How can I repay Adonai for all His bounties (blessings) to me?” He begins by committing to “fulfill his vows to Adonai in the presence of all His people.” It is a good place to start, by fulfilling vows made to Adonai. Most of us have made vows to Adonai.
If you have never heard of Louis Zamperini, I hope you will listen to his story which was broadcast on CBN and portrayed in a full-length feature film titled, Unbroken. Here is a link to his story: “Unbroken’s” Louis Zamperini: The Rest of the Story
Action: I will keep my vows to Adonai from this day forward.
Yield: I am surrendered when I keep my vows to Adonai and others.
Engage: I am fully engaged with the Holy Spirit when I keep my vows.
Relationship: I repay Adonai when I keep my vows.
Prayer: Father, what a wonderful testimony of hardship, cruelty and suffering made right by the keeping of prayers and vows made to You. Many have made vows over the past couple of years. Help us to keep the vows made to You. When we keep the vows made to You, we keep the vows we make to others. Amen.
