Adonai’s personal classroom 101

Prayer: Father, what a great conversation You had Job record between You and himself. May I learn much from observing Your interaction with him. In the name of Yeshua, amen.

Reading: Job 38 key: vs. 1-3
Then Adonai answered Job out of the whirlwind.
He said:
“Who is this, who darkens counsel
    with words without knowledge?
Now gird up your loins like a man;
    I will question you,
    and you will inform Me!

Attention: Have you ever put yourself in Job’s place? Have you ever imagined being questioned by the Almighty?

Today, Job is interrogated by the Adonai about a host of creative questions beginning with, “Where were you when I laid the foundations of earth?” This seems like a silly question, because Job was not even a hint in his parent’s mind, for they did not exist at that moment in time either. Here is a sample sequence of questions being fired at Job:

  1. Who set its dimensions or who stretched a line over it?
  1. Who laid its cornerstone?
  1. Who shut up the sea behind doors?
  1. Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, or caused dawn to know it’s place?
  1. Have you ever gone to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?
  1. Have the gates of death been revealed to you?
  1. Have you comprehended the expanses of the earth?
  1. Have you entered the storehouses of snow or seen the storehouses of hail?

These questions do not represent an exhaustive list of the questions Job was bombarded with, but they do demonstrate the depth of questioning he faced. Job was putting into perspective the differences between man and God. There is no comparison. He is God, and I am not.

Action: When I foolishly convince myself that I have all the answers, I will reread Chapter 38.

Yield: I am submitted to God when I listen.

Engaged: I am engaged when I close my mouth and open my ears.

Relationship: Involves speaking and listening.

Prayer: Father, I am listening to You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 1:33
33 But whoever pays attention to me will live securely,
and be free from the fear of evil.”
