Prayer: Father, I seek and look for affirmations or signs which confirm Your will regularly. May we discover new evidence of Your affirming nature today through this account of the blooming rod. Amen.
Attention: I imagine that most followers of Yeshua have at some time, prayed for affirmation of Adonai’s will and direction over some big life decision. In the scriptures we see several examples of people seeking Adonai’s affirmation. People like Jerubbaal (Gideon) who laid a fleece before the Lord (Judges 6-7), or the sailors on the boat with Jonah aboard (Jonah 1), or even the apostles in finding a replacement for Judas (Acts 1).
Adonai gave Moses the prescription for confirming “the man I choose.” He told Moses to secure a rod from each tribe (12) and one from Aaron, representing the tribe of Levi. Each man representing his tribe were to put their name on their rod. They were to be set “before Adonai in the Tent of Testimony,” overnight. “The next day, Moses entered the tent of Testimony, and behold, Aaron’s staff, from the house of Levi, had sprouted, blossomed, and produced almonds.”
Here’s the kicker! I did a little research on the growing cycle of an adult almond tree. Almond trees take five years to produce almonds. Almond trees blossom between February and March and harvest is from mid-August to October. Overnight, Adonai caused Aaron’s almond tree rod, to blossom and produce almonds. Why should we or they (the Hebrew Children) be surprised when the supernatural manifests in a timeline which is not achievable by man?
Perhaps we should use similar processes in making life decisions and in leadership choices in faith organizations. Please ponder and share your thoughts via our Firstplaceministries.com website.
Action: I choose to seek Adonai’s confirmation about my major life decisions.
Yield: I choose to seek divine guidance regarding life choices.
Engage: I choose to engage with the divine in making life decisions.
Relationship: I choose to keep the lines of communication open with the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Father, why do we want to make life effecting decisions on our own? May we choose to incorporate Your assistance in making life choices. Amen.
Memory Verse: Psalm 37:23-24
23 From Adonai a man’s steps are made firm,
when He delights in his way.
24 Though he stumble,
he will not fall headlong,
for Adonai is holding his hand.
