Prayer: Father, open my eyes to new understandings of the scriptures. About principalities and angelic warfare. Amen.
Reading: Daniel 10 key: vs. 4-8 ““Now on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, while I was beside the bank of the great river, the Tigris, I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a man dressed in linen with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like yellow jasper, his face like a flash of lightning, his eyes like fiery torches, his arms and his feet like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the roar of a multitude. “Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men that were with me did not see the vision. Nevertheless, such a great terror fell upon them that they fled and hid themselves. So I was left alone to see this great vision. My strength drained from me and my vigor was destroyed; I could not summon any strength.”
Attention: I recall an evening in 2015, I was sitting in my apartment and there was a knock at the door. A man stood there at the entrance, dressed cleanly. He asked if he could stay overnight. I was surprised by his request and replied that I my place was a 1-bedroom apartment, there was no place for him to stay. He walked away discouraged.
I had just met with the head of the local women’s Gospel mission because of my launching of a non-profit for widows. They not only familiarized me with the women’s facility but Gospel Unions provision for men.
I have at times wondered if the man who appeared at my door was a visitation which is found in Hebrews 13:2. I’ll never know, but I wish that I had at least offered to drive him to the Union Gospel men’s facility.
Daniel had a visitation too, however, his was approached in a vision by a man whose mere presence overwhelmed Daniel and there was no strength left in him (vs.17). This one who “looked like a man touched me and strengthened me.” So, the one who drained Daniels strength also had the power to give strength.
Before this one who looked like a man departed, he said, ‘Do you understand why I have come to you? Now I must return to fight against the prince of Persia! When I go, behold, the prince of Greece will come. But first, I will tell you what is recorded in the writing of truth.’ (No one strengthened me against these, except Michael your prince (vs. 20-21).”
This heavenly (angelic) man who spoke with Daniel, was telling him of the war which we do not see which takes place in the heavenlies. He tells Daniel he must “return” to battle the “prince of Persia.”
Daniel has used the title of prince for God, calling Him the “Prince of princes” in chapter 8 and verse 25. In chapter 12:1, Daniel names Michael as “the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people.”
So, the references in chapter 10 to various princes by the angelic man who approached Daniel, are to commanders of evil which he is headed out to fight against.
Action: I choose to be aware of the principalities which are warring in the heavenlies.
Yield: I choose to be aware of both the good and evil angelic forces which do battle.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in understanding visions, dreams, and visitations.
Relationship: I choose to live in intimate relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I have been ignorant and unaware of strongholds and forces which Michael and Gabriel and the heavenly host war against. Open my eyes and the eyes of Your followers. Amen.
Memory Scripture: Colossians 1:16 “For by Him all things were created— in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen, whether thrones or angelic powers or rulers or authorities. All was created through Him and for Him.”
