Appointed Times

Prayer: Father, time is in Your control. You have appointed times and seasons. Amen.

Reading: Daniel 11 key: vs. 27 “These two kings, with their hearts bent on evil, will sit at the same table and speak lies, but to no avail, for the end will still come at the appointed time.” TLV

Attention: In various parts of our nation, there are states which experience all four seasons of the year, fall, winter, spring, and summer. Each season has its own distinction. In the fall we see the coloring of the leaves. In the winter, we see cold weather and snow. In spring we see new growth and plants spring to life. In the summer, we see sunshine. In Genesis 1:14 God declares, “Let lights in the expanse of the sky be for separating the day from the night. They will be for signs and for seasons and for days and years.” God shows his control of time and seasons.

Even the writer of Ecclesiastes declares, “For everything there is a season and a time for every activity under heaven (3 :1).” Is there any reason to doubt that the God of creation also has appointed times under His command?

In Daniel’s vision, it was declared to him that things he was being told will unfold or happen each in their “appointed times.” Three times he uses the phrase “appointed times” (vs. 27, 29, and 35). Why should it be difficult to grasp that a God who created the worlds and created man, would control the times from beginning to end?

We are living in appointed times. Each of us was appointed to be where we are and live in the times we are living. This is an example of the intimacy of God. Even appointment is suggested for the life of Queen Esther, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place—but you and your father’s house will perish. Who knows whether you have attained royal status for such a time as this (Eshter 4:14).”

Action: I choose to embrace the understanding that God has appointed times.

Yield: I choose to watch for the appointed times of God.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit and scripture.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimate relationship with the Holy spirit.

Prayer: Father, I accept the appointment of times by You. You ordained the earth and man. You have the power of time in Your hand. Amen.

Memory Verse: Ecclesiastes 3:1 ““For everything there is a season and a time for every activity under heaven.”
