Are You?

Prayer: Father, I am attentive and listening to Your word today. Guide me by Your Holy Spirit into truth. Amen.

Reading: Jeremiah 45 key: vs. 4-5 “Thus shall you say to him, thus says Adonai: “Behold, what I have built I will tear down, and what I have planted I will uproot—the whole land. But you, are you expecting great things for yourself? Seek no more! For I am about to bring calamity on all flesh”—it is a declaration of Adonai— “but I will grant you your soul as spoil in all places where you may go.” TLV

Attention: Have you ever attended a service where a prophet is giving prophetic words to individuals? You may have even sat hopefully wishing that you might be selected for a word. I have been guilty of seeking a word. I have been guilty of being disappointed at not receiving a word.

Today, Jeremiah is given a word for his personal, loyal scribe, Baruch. It had to be tough for Jeremiah to relay God’s word that he would not be spared. He would suffer the consequences of God’s judgment upon the “whole land.” For Adonai was about to “bring calamity on all flesh.”

For most of my life, I have ascribed to the premillennial position where the born-again followers of Yeshua are raptured off this earth prior to the tribulation. I believe this to be a prominently western belief because we have not experienced the type of oppression and killing which other cultures have experienced at the hands of tyrants. What makes us feel we are an exception? What makes us believe we will be spared persecution and death? Have you read Hebrews 11? Have you read of the persecution and death each of Adonai’s emissaries experienced?

I remember hearing a Holocaust survivor speak at a chapel in the late 1970’s. She knew that she was speaking to predominantly pre-tribulation embracing audience. She ended her presentation with, “I hope you are right.”

While Baruch was given the truth, he was also given the hope that his soul would be spared. The gift to him like us, was eternal. When our name is written in the Book of Life, we are eternally secured.

Action: I desire to be “granted” my soul as eternally secured in the Book of Life.

Yield: I choose to submit to the Sovereignty of Holy God (Adonai).

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in living for Yeshua.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, obedient relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for the security of knowing that You have sealed me because of my confession of faith in Yeshua and embracing His blood as the only thing which wipes away my sin. Thank You for the gift of salvation and writing my name in the Book of Life. Amen.

Memory Verse: 1 John 1:7-9 “But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of His Son Yeshua purifies us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” TLV
