Bad News—Good News

Prayer: Father, may You be the first that I run to when facing an obstacle of life. May You be the first and only. Amen.

Reading: 2 Chronicles 20 key: vs. 13- 19 “All Judah was standing before Adonai with their infants, their wives and their children. Then in the midst of the congregation, the Ruach Adonai came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, and he said: “Listen all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat. Thus Adonai says to you, ‘Do not be afraid or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them as they come up the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the valley in front of the wilderness of Jeruel. You will not fight in this battle. Take your positions, stand and see the salvation of Adonai with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or be dismayed. Tomorrow go out to face them, for Adonai is with you.’” Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Adonai to worship Adonai. Levites, from the sons of Kohath and the sons of Korah, stood up to praise Adonai, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.” TLV

Attention: Did you receive bad news today? Who did you run to in your distress? Jehoshaphat ran to Adonai and appealed for his help against an invading enemy. He appealed for Adonai’s help in front of his Hebrew family. He demonstrated great faith in Adonai, and it was rewarded with the Ruach Adonai coming upon one of his priests. He spoke the word of the Lord to the people, “Do not be afraid or be dismayed. Tomorrow go out to face them, for Adonai is with you.’”

The presence of Adonai is everything! Jehaziel assured and declared, “the battle is not yours, but God’s.” So, the next day they went out as Jehaziel prophesied, stood and watched as Adonai “ambushed” and defeated the enemy. Then for three days, the people went and gathered the spoils of war.

Are you facing a giant who is coming against you? Have you run to God and told Him of your despair? Has he sent word to you through His Spirit? “You have nothing to fear.” Stand today and watch as the Lord works on your behalf. He will be victorious! Begin now to praise Adonai just as the king of Judah, Jehoshaphat and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Adonai to worship Adonai.

Blessed assurance, God is with us and has just fought for us while we stood and watched. Praise Adonai today just as the nation of Israel.

Israel is facing the same enemies today who want to annihilate them and drive them from the land which Adonia gave them as an inheritance. Watch and see how Adonai will continue to protect His people.

Action: I choose to embrace the God of Israel as my sovereign Lord and King.

Yield: I choose to submit to the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and David!

Engage: I choose to engage with Adonai in the power of His Spirit.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimate, obedient relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the example of a king like Jehoshaphat who humbled himself before his nation and called on You. Thank You for the display of a prophet priest who declared Your will. I praise You. I glorify You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalms 121: 1-2 “A Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the mountains— from where does my help come? My help comes from Adonai, Maker of heaven and earth.” TLV
