Betrayed

Prayer: Father, Yeshua knows all about being betrayed. Help me to learn a lesson about betrayal. Keep me from being betrayed and keep me from betraying anyone. Amen.

Reading: Judges 16 key: vs. 16-18a “Now it came about when she nagged him daily with her speeches and kept bothering him, his soul was annoyed to death. So he divulged to her all his heart and said to her, “No razor has ever been upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaved, then my strength will go from me, and I will be weak and be like any other man.” Now when Delilah realized that he had confided to her all his heart, she sent and called for the Philistine lords saying, “Come up this time, for he has told me all his heart.” TLV

Attention: Have you ever been betrayed? I had two male friends, who shared something I had shared with them in confidence, to women I was dating at the time. It hurt me immensely and it hurt the ladies. It was hard for me to understand why they would do such a thing. They obviously were not my friends.

Samson experienced a higher level of betrayal from a spouse. Women may be the physically weaker sex; however, her betrayal humbled the strongest man who ever lived. She did not love him. If she had loved him, she would not have betrayed his confidence.

Did you know that Jesus also experienced betrayal? We are told of Judas betraying Jesus for thirty pieces of silver (Matthew 26: 14-15) and Paul recounts in 1 Corinthians 11:23 how Yeshua broke bread on the nigh of His betrayal.

Betrayal is so defrauding and painful. Have I betrayed someone? Yes. Like Judas, I regret it. I encourage you today to be loyal to your friends and family, especially your spouse. Let’s be their biggest fans and supporters.

Action: I choose today to claim loyalty to my spouse, family, and friends.

Yield: I choose today to yield my heart to a standard of loyalty which glorifies God.

Engage: I choose today to engage in a lifestyle of loyalty to God, spouse, and friends.

Relationship: I choose today to stay loyal to God.

Prayer: Father, what price do I put on loyalty? May I never break my loyalty to You, my spouse, family, and friends.

Memory Verse: Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.” TLV
