Prayer: Father, restore Your Word in my heart. Revive Your Word that there would be a move of the Ruach in America which would spread to all the world. Amen.
Reading: Nehemiah 8 key: vs. 1-2 “Then all the people were brought as a single body into the plaza that was before the Water Gate. They said to Ezra the scribe, “Bring out the Torah scroll of Moses that Adonai had commanded Israel.” Ezra the kohen brought the Torah before the assembly, which included men and women and all who could understand what they heard. This happened on the first day of the seventh month.” TLV
Attention: I have noticed that when there is a hunger for God, there is also a hunger for His Word.
Recognize that it was the returning exiles from Babylon who were requesting Ezra bring out the Torah scroll to be read publicly. They had been in exile for close to fifty years. Most likely, they had not heard the Torah read as the scrolls were rediscovered in the rebuilding and refurbishing of the Temple. Forty years were the number of years the people’s forefathers had wandered in the wilderness after coming out of Egypt. A generation of people can die in a forty-year period.
This was a spiritual pivot for the nation to return to the God Adonai in heart, mind, and soul. The reading of the Word also brought a return to the festival of the feast of booths. The festival and the reading of the Word daily brought a discovery, “They found written in the Torah that Adonai had commanded through Moses that Bnei-Yisrael should dwell in sukkot during the feast of the seventh month” (vs.14).
This was both a discovery and rediscovery of the command of God. It is a wonderful thing for those who are new to the Word of God and for those who reinstitute the daily reading of the Word to rediscover the Word. I have both experiences in my lifetime journey with God through His Word.
May you discover and rediscover the instruction of God through the scriptures. For His words are life to those who live by His Word!
Action: I choose to live by the Word of God.
Yield: I choose to yield to the instruction of the Word of God.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in the process of living by faith in the Word of God.
Relationship: I choose to live in intimacy with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, may we choose to live in intimacy and obedience to Your Word. Your Word was written in obedience to You and is life to us. May we choose life! Amen.
Memory Verse: Deuteronomy 32: 46b-47a ““Put in your hearts all the words that I call as witness against you today—that you may command your children to keep and do all the words of this Torah. For it is not an empty thing for you, because it is your life! TLV
