Compounded Sin

Prayer: Father, may I learn much through the sin of David. May I come to not sin in the flesh, through my eyes or heart. In the name of Yeshua, amen.

Reading: 2 Samuel 11 key: vs. 25b “But the thing David had done was evil in Adonai’s eyes.” TLV

Attention: I am greatly grieved by David’s sin because I greatly identify with him. I too am an adulterer. I have not plotted someone’s death, but I have killed with my tongue. The consequences of my sin are like David’s. I didn’t have a prophet come to me, but within my family the damage has been long term. My son has not spoken to me in years.

I hope this chapter and journal has reached you before you are tempted to act out on your lust. I hope this chapter and my appeal will spare you the grief of adultery and the long-term consequences of your actions. In the remaining chapters of 2 Samuel, we will see the long-range effects of David’s choice to sin.

The scriptures are silent regarding Delilah’s feelings at being invited to the king’s palace, the murder of her husband, and death of their first born. However, the scriptures are loud regarding David’s exposure by Nathan the prophet, the child’s death, and the family dynamics which unfold. His sin is compounded. He has grieved God, his wife, and children. What he did in secret, God has exposed in public.

If you find yourself involved in an affair, I pray you will walk away and repent. If you have struggled with your sin for years, I pray you will publicly repent with a few close, same sex friends, who will help you leave an old lifestyle. Free yourself from the tyranny of past sin.

It is for freedom that Yeshua died on the cross. Claim His freedom today.

Action: I choose today to free myself from the tyranny of past sin and addictions.

Yield: I choose today to yield to Yeshua’s mercy and forgiveness. I claim His cleansing blood.

Engage: I choose today to engage in holy lifestyle living.

Relationship: I choose today to live in an intimate, transparent life with God.

Prayer: Father, I fear the consequences of my sin from a loving Father. I repent of my proclivity to sin. Forgive me. I accept Your discipline. I desire to be reconciled to You through Yeshua. I desire to be mentored by the Holy Spirit. May I live a holy life unto You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 28:13 “One who covers up his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them finds mercy.” TLV
