Consecrate Yourselves

Prayer: Father, may I gain insight into my relationship with You from the life of Joshua today. Amen.

Reading: Joshua 3 key: vs. 5
Then Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow Adonai will do wonders in your midst.”

Attention: Have you ever declared unto God and others, your desire to sell out for Jesus? Have you handed Him the keys to your life? There was a song in the late 60’s or 70’s which spoke of switching places with Jesus, allowing Him to drive while you took a place in the back seat.

The day before the Hebrew nation was to cross the Jordan, Joshua uttered a decree, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow Adonai will do wonders in your midst.” Do you know that God is ready to do wonders in your midst? Would you consecrate yourself today if you knew that God was ready to do wonders in your midst? Would you be willing to hand Him the keys? Would you tell Him, “Lord, I am Yours, to do with as You please? I am Yours!”

This is what Joshua was asking the people to do individually. Most of us have witnessed a baby dedication in which the parents of the child declare before God and the community of faith, “We dedicate our baby to Your service.” The parents are speaking for themselves and their child, committing themselves to the spiritual, physical, and emotional formation of their child.

Joshua is commanding the Hebrew nation to declare their personal affirmation of ownership, belonging wholly to Adonai.

Have you ever told God, “I belong to You! I am Yours!” I invite you today, to consecrate yourself to the Supreme Authority of heaven and earth. Leave no doubt and spill your heart to God today!

Action: Lord, I choose to declare today, “I belong to You! I am Yours!”

Yield: I choose to surrender my life and will to God.

Engage: I choose to engage in the act of consecrating myself to God today!

Relationship: I choose to move closer to God today!

Prayer: Father, I declare before heaven and earth, I am Yours! I belong to You! I desire to give You all the glory! Soli Deo gloria! Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 12:1
I urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice—holy, acceptable to God—which is your spiritual service
