Delight in Adonai!

Prayer: Father, Your formula for success is straightforward. Open my eyes and my heart to receive instruction today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reading: Psalm 37 key: vs. 4-5
Delight yourself in Adonai,
and He will give you the requests of your heart.
Commit your way to Adonai.
Trust in Him, and He will do it.

Attention: Have you ever “delighted” in something? The first example which comes to my mind is grandchildren. Many grandparents boast or brag about their grandchildren, posting pictures on social media. We find joy or happiness in watching their progress in life and discovery.

I heard someone being interviewed recently about their sports experience and they mentioned they remembered their mother saying, “You were always your happiest when you were playing” a particular sport.

Do you “delight” in discovering God from His Word? Do you “delight” in the discoveries of others in His Word? I just recently had someone share with me the joy they are finding in the process of daily reading and journaling the Bible. They claimed this was a first, that “they never knew, had never been told or shown how to study the Bible in this way.”

Notice what the psalmist David says regarding “delight.” “Delight yourself in Adonai, and He will give you the requests of your heart. Commit your way to Adonai. Trust in Him, and He will do it.”

My high school football coach used to write this on the chalkboard prior to sending us out to battle on a Friday night, “Pride + Poise= Victory.” David gives us a formula for a successful life, “Delight + Commit + Trust= He will do (Give you the request of your heart).” It is an interactive relationship with God which activates God on your behalf. Delight in Him and He delights in you (vs. 23). Delight in Him, His Word, His ways, commit to Him, trust Him….and “wait” (vs. 7, 9, 34) patiently while He acts on your behalf.

Action: I will delight in Adonai today, knowing that when I delight in Him, He is delighted with me.

Yield: I am yielded to Him when I delight in Him.

Engaged: When I delight in Adonai, I am engaged with Him in the process of life.

Relationship: When I delight in Him, He delights in me.

Prayer: Father, I delight in You today. I find joy when I delight in You and peace comes to me. I declare my trust in You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in Adonai with all your heart,
lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.
