Do This and Live

Prayer: Father, You are the giver of Life. Yeshua is the key to life. Thank You for giving me life eternal through Yeshua. Amen.

Reading: Leviticus 8 key: vs. 33-35
33 You are not to go out from the entrance of the Tent of Meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are fulfilled, for he will be filling your hands for seven days. 34 What has been done this day, Adonai has commanded to be done, in order to make atonement for you. 35 You are to stay at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days, and keep Adonai’s command, so that you do not die, for so I have been commanded.”

Attention: Have you ever been given a death sentence? We all have. When God gave His command to Adam & Eve (Genesis 2:16-17) in the garden, there was a consequence to disobedience. The consequence of disobedience to Adonai’s command was death. The consequence of their disobedience was death, which has been passed from generation to generation. The death spoken of in this scripture was not immediate as in being struck down, but imminent. While eventual, it would occur someday. Death was the same result for both man and woman. Yet, they were given differing consequences for their actions. Man must work, toil, and sweat. Woman must bear children in pain and suffering.

Disobedience for Aaron and his sons may have been swift, had they not obeyed Adonai’s command to “go out from the entrance of the Tent of Meeting for seven days.”

Have we not all sinned? Have we not all disobeyed Adonai’s commands?

I am reminded of the story of a Torah lawyer the Apostle Luke shares with us in Luke 10:25-37. The lawyer’s question of Yeshua, “Teacher, what should I do to gain eternal life?” Yeshua replies with a question, “What has been written in the Torah? How do you read it?” The lawyer’s reply, “You shall love Adonai your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” Yeshua answered, “You have answered correctly. Do this and you will live.” The text says, “But wanting to vindicate himself, he said to Yeshua, “Then who is my neighbor?”

We have been trying to vindicate ourselves, ever since. The lawyer sought to defend or justify his inability to comply with Adonai’s command. In doing so, he indicted himself. We too are shown guilty by our non-compliance.

Leviticus 8 is an account of the consecration of the Kohanim (Priests) which were set apart by Adonai to minister the sacrificial atonement for a people, a nation separated from Adonai by their sin. Yeshua became the sacrificial atonement for all people who would receive. Have you called out to Him and received His forgiveness for sins? If you have, I rejoice with you today! If you have not, I encourage you to call on His name according to Romans 10:13. Then live for Him, who died for You.

Action: Today I will rejoice in or receive salvation based on Romans 10:13.

Yield: I rejoice or receive forgiveness for sin today.

Engage: I engage in the process of receiving forgiveness for sin.

Relationship: Only Adonai can forgive sin.

Prayer: Father, the other master seeks to kill, steal, and destroy. You seek to give us life through the forgiveness of sin. I choose life with You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 10:13
13 For “Everyone who calls upon the name of Adonai shall be saved.”
