Do You Love Another

Prayer: Father, like the Hebrew nation, there were times past in which I was not following You. Yet, when I was in need, I called out to You. How offensive that is to You. I repent and ask forgiveness. In Yeshua’s name. Amen.

Reading: Jeremiah 2 key: vs. 25b-28 “But you said ‘There is no hope! No! For I have loved foreign gods and I will go after them.’ As a thief is shamed when caught, so the house of Israel is shamed— they, their kings, their princes, their kohanim and their prophets. They say to wood, ‘You are my father’ and to a stone, ‘You birthed me.’ They have turned their back to Me and not their face. Yet when they are in trouble they say, ‘Rise up and save us!’ Where are your gods that you made for yourself? Let them come—if they can save you when you are in trouble! For you have as many gods as y0u have cities, O Judah.” TLV

Attention: Wow. Do you feel the emotion of Adonai as a scorned lover? Did you know that it was possible to grieve the Spirit? God has caught them as adulterous lovers, chasing after inanimate gold of wood and stone. The nation of Israel has done a 180-degree body turn away from God. They have spurned the One who has provided and protected them through the wilderness and into the promised land.

Once again, they are in trouble and to whom do they turn? The only true God, the One who loves them.

Have you ever had someone who betrayed your affection? God knows how you feel. Have you ever been the betrayer? Have you ever betrayed God’s affection? I have. The issue is not the number of lovers you may have courted. He charged Israel’s kings, princes, kohanim, and prophets, (notice the inclusion of the spiritual leaders) of spiritual adultery, of having as many gods (and idols) as cities.

Have you been flirting with another god? Have you been paying less and less attention to the lover of your soul? Has your worship of God become rote and stale? How long has it been since you prayed? Has your Bible been neglected and sits collecting dust? Or does your Bible sit on a shelf, disregarded, forgotten. Do you have the Bible app, but it isn’t even noticed among all the plethora of apps displayed?

Today would be a good day to evaluate the temperature of your relationship with God. Be honest because God knows your heart. Do those who surround you daily, know of you love for God?

Action: I choose to confirm my exclusive love for God today!

Yield: I choose to submit my love for God.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in loving God exclusively.

Relationship: I choose to live for Yeshua, the One who died for me.

Prayer: Father, may I never take for granted the love You have for me. I love You with all my heart. Amen.

Memory Verse: Ephesians 4:30-31 “Do not grieve the Ruach ha-Kodesh of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness and rage and anger and quarreling and slander, along with all malice.” TLV
