Elisha Wept

Prayer: Father, may my heart weep over what grieves You. May my heart be in tune with You. Amen.

Reading: 2 Kings 8 key: vs. 11-12 “Then he fixed his gaze steadily on him until he was ashamed, and then the man of God wept. When Hazael asked, “Why is my lord weeping?” he answered, “Because I know the evil that you will inflict on the men of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, their young men you will slay with the sword, their little ones you will dash into pieces, and their pregnant ones you will rip open.” TLV

Attention: The closer we get to Adonai, His emotions become our emotions.

As followers of Adonai, I have heard from friends of recent days say, “I am sad over the developments in the Middle East.” Rightfully so. When our hearts are bonded with God, we feel sadness when His nation is attacked and many of the things Elisha saw in this account with king Ben-hadad, he prophetically called him on.

The words of 2 Kings 8: 11-12 sound like headlines written today. I won’t repeat the list of atrocities Elisha saw. The vision of war brought Elisha to tears.

Similarly, Yeshua declared much the same recorded in Luke 19:41-44 “As He drew near and saw Jerusalem, He wept over her, saying, “If only you had recognized this day the things that lead to shalom! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you when your enemies will surround you with barricades and hem you in on all sides. And they will smash you to the ground—you and your children within you. And they won’t leave within you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

I encourage you to pray for the nation of Israel. May many come to know Yeshua because of the latest actions in the Middle East.

Actions: I choose to pray for Israel’s salvation. May they come to recognize and embrace the Messiah Yeshua.

Yield: I choose to submit to Adonai as the God of Israel.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit for the salvation and peace for Israel.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimate relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, I pray for the salvation of Israel and the Arab nations. Peace will only come through the worship of the One True God, Adonai. Amen.

Memory Verse: Luke 19: 41 “As He drew near and saw Jerusalem, He wept over her, saying, “If only you had recognized this day the things that lead to shalom! But now they are hidden from your eyes.” TLV
