Endowed

Prayer: Father, I am ready to learn. Teach me today by Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reading: 2 Chronicles 2 key: vs.12-13 “So now I am sending Huram-abi—a skilled man endowed with understanding who is the son of a woman from the daughters of Dan and whose father was a man from Tyre—a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, in purple and blue, fine linen and crimson, and to engrave all kinds of engraving, and who can execute any design given to him. He will work with your skilled men and with the skilled men of my lord David your father.” TLV

Attention: Have you ever known someone who was endowed with special giftings or abilities? They knew better than anyone how to do something which required skill? Isn’t it amazing how a sculptor sees something within the stone, and they can make it appear? Or how an artist can paint a portrait and capture the essence of the image.

The king of Tyre was good friends with David and continued his relationship with Solomon. He sent him a man named Huram-abi who was the “son of a woman from the daughters of Dan and whose father was a man from Tyre.” If we look on a map, Dan was the northern most tribe of Israel (Hebrew Jew). It was another way of saying, Huram-abi was born to a mother of Hebrew ancestry and his father was Phoenician, a Greek.

Huram-abi was extraordinarily gifted with understanding (knowledge) in working with metals, fine metals, stone, wood, dyes (Tyre was known for its purple dye), linen, and engravings. He was so gifted, that he could “execute any design given to him.”

In the Puget Sound Area of Seattle, Washington, an artist named Dale Chihuly is famous for glass blowing. He has become world famous for his glass art. But he does not even possess the variety and scope of skills which Huram-abi possessed.

If you are an artist in music (instrumental & voice), painting (water, oils, pen & ink, etc.), sculpting, photography, weaving, wood working, metallurgy, gemology, or glass, I encourage you to gift your gifting to Adonai and see if He doesn’t take you to another level!

Action: I choose to give my talent and ability to Adonai.

Yield: I choose to submit my talents and abilities to the service of Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in launching innovative designs and art unto Adonai.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimate, obedient relationship with Adonia.

Prayer: Father, may we see You infuse a new level of creativity in our lives as we use our talents and abilities for Your glory! Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 12:6-8 “We have gifts that differ according to the grace that was given to us—if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; or the one who teaches, in his teaching; or the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who gives, in generosity; the one who leads, with diligence; the one who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.” TLV
