Epitaphs

Prayer: Father, may what is said of me upon my death, be of glory to You. I desire to finish strong in Your kingdom. Living for You. Amen.

Reading: 2 Kings 15 key: vs. 1-4 “In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah became king. He was 16 years old when he began to reign, and he reigned 52 years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. Now he did what was right in Adonai’s eyes, just like all that his father Amaziah had done. However, the high places were not taken away—the people were still sacrificing and burning incense on the high places.” TLV

Attention: My wife and I have taken to watching early television Western shows. One show’s camera pans over Boot Hill, famous for funny epitaphs on the tombstones. Here is an example; “Here Lies Lester Moore, Two slugs from a ’44, No Les, No More.” They are funny and make light of something which is serious. We all know that we will face death one day. We tend to think that that moment is a way off. But the older we get, the closer that date becomes. Are you prepared?

I have always been thankful that I didn’t live in Old Testament times and that my life story was not recorded for all to judge. However, scripture records Yeshua’s words found in Matthew 12:36-37 “But I tell you that on the Day of Judgment, men will give account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” We will be judged even by the words we speak.

How are you going to be remembered? How do you want to be remembered? We must live out our lives by the message or epitaph which we want to be remembered by.

Action: I choose to live a lifestyle of obedience to Adonai.

Yield: I choose to yield my life as a living sacrifice to Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage with the help of the Holy Spirit as an instrument of grace of Adonai’s.

Relationship: I choose to live an intimate lifestyle with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, may my life I live before You, write the epitaph of my life as honoring and obeying You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Jacob (James) 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.” TLV
