Everyone Did What Was Right

Prayer: Father, if only I always did what was right, in Your eyes. Help me to get in step with Your Word and ways. Amen.

Reading: Judges 21 key: vs. 25 “In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” TLV

Attention: The last verse of chapter 21 encapsulates the theme of the period of the book of Judges. Could it also serve as an adequate summation of our culture and our current world culture.

Oh, that it might be said of us and followers of Adonai, “Everyone did what was right before God.” Righteousness is our goal as followers of God. God declares, “For it is written, “Kedoshim you shall be, for I am kadosh (1 Peter 1:16).” Holy ones we shall be, for God is Holy. God also made this same declaration to the Hebrew nation in Leviticus 11:44a, “For I am Adonai your God. Therefore, sanctify yourselves, and be holy, for I am holy.”

God declares holiness for both Hebrew and Greek followers. In the days of the Judges, each did what was right in their own eyes. When everyone is the center of their own truth or ethos, and truth does not come from one source outside of ourselves. When that source is not God, then truth becomes corrupted, and chaos consumes. When our Supreme Court Judges and Civil Court Judges begin to adjudicate based on their own truth, outside of the Supremacy of God, we are all in trouble. When everyone in our nation and world begins to do only what is right in their own eyes, we are in trouble too.

May we as followers of Yeshua, embrace the standard of Truth found only in Adonai and scripture and do what is right before God.

Action: I choose to embrace the Truth of scripture because it is God’s Word.

Yield: I choose to yield to the Holy Spirit of Truth and do what is right in God’s sight.

Engage: I choose to engage with the help of the Holy Spirit in living a holy lifestyle.

Relationship: I choose to be conformed to the image of Yeshua!

Prayer: Father, my aim is to be like You, holy! Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Keep me close to You. Amen.

Memory Verse: 1 Peter 1: 16 ““For it is written, “Kedoshim you shall be, for I am kadosh.”
