Face to Face

Prayer: Father, I have learned much from Moses’ writings. I pray Your blessings over those who have persevered through the study of the Pentateuch and the Torah. May they have new understanding and reverence for Your Law. Amen.

Reading: Deuteronomy 34 key: vs. 10-12
10 There has not risen again a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom Adonai knew face to face, 11 with all the signs and wonders Adonai sent him to do in the land of Egypt—to Pharaoh, all his servants, and all his land— 12 by the strong hand and great awe that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

Attention: If you were to pick a biblical figure to spend the day with, who would it be? Many would say King David. Others might say Joseph, or Paul, or one of the other apostles. Some might even suggest Elijah or Daniel.

A worthy argument could be made for spending a day with Moses. We have spent the past six months plus a few days studying the writings of Moses. We have spent over a half year reading and pondering Moses’ writings. He is quite an amazing man. He led the Hebrew nation for over forty years. He got the nation to the doors of the promised land but was not allowed to enter.

It was through this reluctant leader that God showed His power and extracted a nation from servitude. God used Moses as the instrument to instruct the nation about His Law (Mitzvah) and Commandments. Moses was a suffering servant who agonized as the stiff-necked character of the nation. All had witnessed the might of Adonai and His provident provision in the wilderness. Yet they did not believe or obey God.

“A. W. Tozer says, “A true and safe leader is likely one who has no desire to lead, but is forced into a position of leadership by the inward pressure of the Holy Spirit and by the press of the external situation.”

A new generation arose because of the lack of faith of the former generation. Has God ever had to do the same to other generations? Is He doing the same today? I hope you will ponder and respond to the closing words of Moses to the new generation found in Deuteronomy 30: 19-20. Choose Life, my friends!

Action: I choose Life and Blessing today which come from obeying Adonai.

Yield: I choose to yield my life to the Lordship of the Messiah Yeshua.

Engage: I choose to engage in life with the Holy Spirit.

Relationship: I choose to be in an intimate lifestyle with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Father, You have the power to transform lives by the Holy Spirit. May many find their identity in You as Moses did and become leaders in Your Kingdom. For Your glory only! Amen.

Memory Verse: Deuteronomy 30:19-20
19 “I call the heavens and the earth to witness about you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live, 20 by loving Adonai your God, listening to His voice, and clinging to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell on the land that Adonai swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob—to give them.
