Faithfulness

Prayer: Father, You reward faithfulness. Thank You for the example of faithfulness today. Amen.

Reading: Jeremiah 35 key: vs. 18-19 “Now Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, thus says Adonai-Tzva’ot, the God of Israel: “Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,” therefore thus says Adonai-Tzva’ot, the God of Israel: “There will never be cut off for Jonadab son of Rechab a man to stand before Me forever.” TLV

Attention: I can remember a day when in elementary school days, perfect attendance was rewarded, not only on your report card, but you received a certificate at a school assembly, and/or your name mentioned over the public address system. Big stuff.

At the word of Adona, Jeremiah went to a clan called the Rechabites. They were known historically for their lifestyle of not drinking wine, not building, or living in houses, or engaging in agricultural farming. This way of life was commanded by Jehonadab ben Rechab to his family descendants.

So, when Jeremiah was sent to the Rechabites by Adonai and commanded to throw a wine tasting party, he was surprised when he was met with an attitude of compliance to the command given by their ancestor and unwillingness to comply with the command of God. The Hebrews of Judah had not complied to God’s commands nor listened to the prophets.

The result, God commended their faithfulness with these words: “Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father…There will never be cut off for Jonadab son of Rechab a man to stand before Me forever.” Adonai made an eternal covenant with the Rechabites.

God rewards faithfulness. I encourage you to watch for declarations of God’s rewards for those who are faithful. A notable example is, “Now without faith it is impossible to please God. For the one who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).”

Action: I choose to embrace that when I am faithful to God, He rewards my faithfulness.

Yield: I choose to submit in faithfulness to Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage in a lifestyle of faithfulness unto Adonai.

Relationship: I choose to live a faithful lifestyle unto Adonai.

Prayer: Father, faithfulness is a rewardable characteristic in your kingdom. I seek to be a faithful servant unto You and Your kingdom. Amen.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 11:6 “Now without faith it is impossible to please God. For the one who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” TLV
