Prayer: Father, may I never lament my standing in life when it is of my own doing. Amen.
Reading: 1 Samuel 23 key: vs. 19-22 “Then some of the Ziphites went up to Saul in Gibeah, saying, “Isn’t David hiding with us in the strongholds at Choresh, in the hill of Hachilah which is south of Jeshimon? Now therefore, O king, come down whenever it is a desire of your soul to come down—our part will be to deliver him into the king’s hand.” “May you be blessed of Adonai,” Saul said, “for you have taken pity on me. Go now, make more sure, investigate and scout out his place where he usually goes and who has seen him there. For I have been told that he is very cunning. TLV
Attention: It is a pitiful thing to watch a king like Saul, who knows what he has done to cause God to withdraw His anointing and give the kingdom to David. Saul knows full well what is happening in all of Israel. The people are celebrating David above Saul. With a jealous fervor, Saul feels threatened by David’s popularity and instead of installing David as second in command, he is after his life. He has ordered everyone, courtiers, family members (Jonathan & Michal), military, to kill David. Saul has painted David as “very cunning.” He is sure that David is conspiring to kill him and seize control of the throne. Saul is suspicious of his every move and asks for help in locating his whereabouts.
So, when the Ziphites come to Saul at Gibeah, he is relieved to have someone see his plight and offer to do espionage work for him.
But, again and again, the providence of God keeps David one step ahead of Saul’s attempts to intercept David. Providentially, God intervenes and send the Philistines to distract Saul and force him to retreat and advance against their enemy neighbors.
I hope you see that God can and will intervene on your behalf amid danger. David played hide and seek with Saul for years before God took Saul out and established David’s throne. It could take years for God to resolve a situation for you.
I have prayed for my children for years based on the prophetic proclamation found in Malachi 3:23-24, ““Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and terrible day of Adonai. He will turn the hearts of fathers to the children, and the hearts of children to their fathers—else I will come and strike the land with utter destruction.” TLV
For those who have not heard from their children or grandchildren in years, I hope you will embrace Malachi 3:23-24 for yourself and pray with me for the reconciliation and restoration of relationship with our children.
Action: I choose today to pray for those who are our enemies and for our children who are disenfranchised from us.
Yield: I surrender to the Holy Spirit in ordering my steps and restoring my children in relationship to me.
Engage: I choose today to engage with the help of the Holy Spirit to pray for the restoration of my children.
Relationship: I choose today to live in communion with the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the fulfillment of Malachi 3:23-24 with my children before I pass. My heart is for them. I pray for a supernatural touch from the Holy Spirit so that their hearts are turned toward me. In the name of Yeshua. Amen.
Memory Verse: Malachi 3:23-24 ““Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and terrible day of Adonai. He will turn the hearts of fathers to the children, and the hearts of children to their fathers—else I will come and strike the land with utter destruction.” TLV
