God Alone

Prayer: Father, You alone are worthy of my praise. You alone are worthy of all glory. You alone are sufficient. You alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reading: Psalm 62 key: vs.2-3 & 6-7
My soul, wait in stillness, only for God—
from Him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress—I will never be moved.
My soul, wait in stillness, only for God—
for from Him comes my expectation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my strong tower—I will not be moved.

Attention: The early theologians of faith along with the classic music composers ascribed to God in Latin, “Soli Deo Gloria,” or to God alone be the glory. David also gives credit and glory to “God alone.” There is no other. Even God declares this understanding of Himself. The prophet Isaiah records the declaration by God as, “Thus says Adonai, Israel’s King and his Redeemer, Adonai-Tzva’ot (Lord of Hosts), I am the first and the last, and there is no God besides Me (Isaiah 44:6).” Isaiah repeats Adonai’s claim, “I am Adonai—there is no other. Besides Me there is no God (Isaiah 45:5a).”

We would do well along with Isaiah and the early theologians to declare in our hearts and mind, “God alone is God, there is no other!” Have you declared this truth to God, to others, and to your family? David is declaring this truth to God and everyone who reads his psalm today.

Action: I declare to God that He is God and God alone. There is no other God!

Yield: I am yielded when I declare, God is God alone in my life.

Engage: I am engaged with God when I give Him alone, all the glory!

Relationship: I am in relationship with God only when I give Him first place in my heart and life.

Prayer: Father, I declare You today as the only God in my life. May I yield to You as the “only” God and source of my hope and trust. You alone are worth of my praise. In Jesus name, amen.

Memory Verse: Isaiah 46:9
Remember the former things of old:
For I am God—there is no other.
I am God, and there is none like Me—

Music Video: There is None Like You

Remember, “Abide in Jesus, today!”
