God Decrees Ownership

Prayer: Father, I wonder this morning if everyone acknowledged that You own “every beast of the field” and “the cattle on a thousand hills,” and “everything moving in the field is Mine (Yours), would they look at the world differently? The psalmist records Your words to him, “for the world is Mine and all it contains.” Seems straightforward to me, You own the world! Amen.

Reading: Psalm 50 key: vs. 21-22
21 These things you have done—Should I keep silent?
You thought I was just like you—but I reprove you,
and set the case before your eyes.
22 Now consider this, you who forget God.
Or else I will tear you in pieces with no one to rescue you.

Attention: From verse 16 to 22 the psalmist records for the reader, what God is “saying” through him. The words are not his, but God’s inspired direction to us and the Hebrew nation.

There are a few key scriptures found in 2 Timothy 3:15-16, “All scripture is inspired by God,” and 2 Peter 1:20-21 “Above all understand this: no prophecy of Scripture comes about from a person’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever brought forth by human will, rather, people spoke from God as they were moved by the Ruach ha-Kodesh.” Understand it is the role of the Holy Spirit to teach us and remind us of the truth of the Word. John 14:26 records and captures Jesus’ words, “But the Helper, the Ruach ha-Kodesh whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything and remind you of everything that I said to you.”

This passage sounds very contemporary, like the message was written for us. The character of those who are evil is so modern and adaptable. Have we ever in recorded time experienced the evil telling the community of faith, what the Bible says? God is only love after all. His laws are banned, His discipline is hated, thieves are allowed to pillage and plunder with no consequence, adultery is flaunted and praised, and those who spew hatred call the other side the haters.

Be confident about God’s claims. He owns the world and everything in it. He is able to supply our every need. He is in control and intervening in the affairs of the world.

Action: I acknowledge God’s decree of ownership of the world and everything in it. I acknowledge that God’s Word is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Yield: When I acknowledge God’s inspiration and ownership, I am yielding to Him.

Engage: I honor God when I give Him praise.

Relationship: Full relationship with God acknowledges and honors Him.

Prayer: Father, I praise You today for the power of Your Word. How Your Word changes me, transforms my mind and my heart, and instructs me about You and the world around me. Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalm 50:14-15
14 Offer God a sacrifice of thank offerings,
then fulfill your vows to Elyon.
15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble.
When I rescue you, you will honor Me.”
