Prayer: Father, I want to know You more! Give Your servant insight and understanding of Your ways. Amen.
Reading: Numbers 23 key: vs. 19
19 God is not a man who lies,
or a son of man who changes his mind!
Does He speak and then not do it,
or promise and not fulfill it?
Attention: Back in the late nineties at the conclusion of a worship service, the senior pastor played a recording of S. M. Lockridge describing God. There are several updated versions of the cassette recording I have heard, as his eloquent discourse has been put to video. I feel that the audio version I heard was more impactful than the newer versions but here is a sample of Dr. Lockridge’s preaching titled, That’s My King https://youtu.be/VwQqQkdn_5Q
Where did Dr. Lockridge come up with all the descriptions of God? Straight from scripture. God defines Himself. There is no one to compare. Even the cultic prophet Balaam got it right because the “Adonai put a message into Balaam’s mouth.” Notice today’s key verse is God speaking through Balaam to king Balak when he says, “God is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes his mind. Does He speak and then (like man) not do it, or promise and not fulfill it?”
The world who does not know God, tries to control the narrative about who God is. They shame Christians because Christians do not know their Bible. Did not Satan also twist scripture in his encounter with Yeshua? Yet each accusation, each statement by Satan is countered with what the Word of God says accurately (Matthew 4; Luke 4).
Adonai may use any conduit to bring His Word, even a cultic prophet like Balaam. We will observe in the next couple of chapters Balaam’s true character.
Only through scripture can we obtain a complete and full knowledge of who God is. The world will supply us with a narrative which is partially true, but not complete. How could it be complete? They do not know God. They only know about Him. They do not believe He exists, so why are they so sure they know all they need to know about Him?
I encourage you to engage in the Choose Life Journaling plan. Every time I have read, and re-read, and studied the scriptures, I have discovered more about Adonai and who He is. Fall in love with the scriptures and you will fall in love with Adonai.
Action: I will engage in knowing Adonai for the duration of my life on earth.
Yield: I give myself over to knowing Adonai.
Engage: I choose to engage in the process of knowing Adonai!
Relationship: I choose to draw closer to Adonai and knowing Him from His Word.
Prayer: Father, I want to know You more. This is my desire, to know You and the power of Your resurrection! Amen.
Memory Verse: Philippians 3:10-11
10 My aim is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the sharing of His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death— 11 if somehow I might arrive at the resurrection from among the dead.
