God Said it, I Believe it!

Prayer: Father, thank You for the instruction found in Your Word. May I read, listen, and obey Your Word today! Amen.

Reading: Exodus 24 key: vs. 3
So Moses came and told the people all the words of Adonai as well as all the ordinances. All the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words which Adonai has spoken, we will do.”

Attention: There used to be a saying among conservative, evangelical Christians, “God said it, I believe it, and that finishes it.” In other words, that settles it, end of conversation. Oh, that we believed in our actions what we said with our mouth. It sounded good. It even preached good.

When I came to verse 3 of chapter 24, the first thing I thought was, “I have heard that before, just said a bit differently.” Have you told God that same thing? In my growing up, I was taught that there was a regular need to rededicate our lives to God. So, when the altar call came at the end of every service, some came forward to express to God, the pastor, and the congregation their intention for coming to the altar. There were also annual camp or revival meetings where both salvation and rededication were emphasized.

Today, Adonai’s prophet, priest (dedicated liaison, Ambassador), came down from Mount Sinai (at Adonai’s direction (command) and told the Hebrew nation “all the words of Adonai as well as the ordinances, we addressed a few chapters and day prior. How did they respond? “With one voice.” They confirmed orally, “All the words which Adonai has spoken (through Moses), we will do.”

How many times have we gotten fired up, repented, rededicated our lives, only to go out from that meeting, face life and fall. I’ve been there. Life gets in the way, gets us down and feeling defeated. What has made the difference in my own life is a change of lifestyle. I don’t seek to get fired up weekly, monthly, or once a year from the preaching of an anointed pastor. I feed myself daily from the Word of God. I have taken responsibility for my spiritual development, growth and feeding. In your physical life, do you only eat on days that you go to church? When you go to church, is that the only day you open your Bible electronically? When was the last time you opened the scriptures and fed yourself? Are you starving spiritually? Please consider a new lifestyle of time in God’s Word with the Choose Life Journal lifestyle.
