Had He Not Been on Our Side

Prayer: Father, teach me today. I come prepared to listen to Your Holy Spirit. Show me new things from Your scriptures. Renew my mind. In the name of Yeshua, amen.

Reading: Psalm 124 key: vs. 1b-2
“Had Adonai not been on our side”
—let Israel now say—
“Had Adonai not been on our side,
when men rose up against us,

Attention: Have you ever heard someone exclaim, “God is on our side!”? The psalmist can exclaim this statement as before Yeshua came to earth, it was Israel and Adonai versus the known world. Adonai had made a covenant with Abraham which was perpetual and extended only to the nation of Israel. After resurrection, the Gentile or Greek nations who called on the name of Yeshua, were grafted into Adonai’s community family.

Yeshua extended spiritual adoption by being born again. We became a part of His forever family when we come to Him by faith and receive His gift. Adonai grafted (Romans 11:17-24) Greeks (anyone who is not Jewish is Greek), into the tree of His family. He did it this manner, to make the Jewish nation of Israel jealous (Romans 11:13-15). Jealousy being a motivation to acknowledge Adonai and Messiah Yeshua.

After Yeshua’s resurrection and ascension, the process is one of our going to Adonai’s side rather than Him being on our side. We have a choice to continue as we are under the spell of the evil one or acknowledging Yeshua as Lord and Savior and aligning ourselves with Him. Every disciple in the gospel was faced with the command “Follow Me.” Their documented responses are found in the Gospels (Matthew 4:19-25; Mark 10:28; Luke 5:11; John 1:37), “they left everything and followed Him.”

The question is, whose side are you on? God is with those who have acknowledged His Son, Yeshua. From that point, His Spirit resides within us. We abide with Him.

Action: Knowing that Yeshua commanded all His disciples to follow Him, I commit my life as a disciple of Yeshua, to follow Him today and every day following.

Yield: I give myself to Yeshua.

Engage: I live for Yeshua with all my heart, mind, and soul.

Relationship: With all my heart, mind, and soul, I commit to Adonai.

Prayer: Father, I am on Your side! I will follow Yeshua as a disciple and become a fisher of men. Amen.

Memory Verse: Luke 5:10-11

10 so also Jacob and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were partners with Simon.

But Yeshua said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on, you will be catching men.” 11 So when they had brought the boats to the landing, they left everything and followed Him.
