Hallejuyah! Praise Adonai 2

Prayer: Father, I have so much to learn about praising You. Help me learn what pleases You. In Yeshua’s name, amen.

Reading: Psalm 147 key: vs.11
11 Adonai delights in those who revere Him,
in those who trust in His lovingkindness.

Attention: We continue the psalmist’s thoughts on praise, Halleluyah! His opening statement, “How good it is to sing praises to our God. How pleasant and fitting is praise.” Do you want to please God? The psalmist declares that praise is the pathway to His heart. Praise is both pleasant and fitting, when it flows from those who “revere Him…and trust His lovingkindness.”

What is it which brought the psalmist to a place of Halleluyah? His recounting of what Adonai has done and is doing for His covenant people, propels him to praise God. Notice that everything which the psalmist recounts is an action word, a verb.

He builds

He gathers

He heals

He binds up

He determines

He gives

He upholds

He covers

He provides

He makes

He gives

He blesses

He puts Shalom

He satisfies

He sends

He scatters

He hurls

He declares

How much does Adonai have to do to secure your praise? Or is the issue my lack of awareness of the magnitude of what He has done for me? Do you think this list is exhaustive or is this only a start to establishing His all sufficiency and supremacy?

There was an old hymn I remember singing as a child titled, Count Your Blessings. It is a worthwhile exercise to include in your journal.

Action: I will elevate my level of praise by taking an accounting of God’s activity in my life.

Yield: I give my praise, only to the One deserving of my praise!

Engage: I revere Adonai today! (To hold in high esteem, respect)

Relationship: Adonai is God, and I am not!

Prayer: Father, may I give You the praise due to You, nothing less. You deserve all the glory and honor! Amen.

Memory verse: John 21:25
25 There are also many other things that Yeshua did. If all of them were to be written one by one, I suppose that not even the world itself will have room for the books being written!
