Halleluyah! Praise God!

Prayer: Father, expand my understanding, awareness, and expression of praise today. May I grow in my worship of You. Give me singleness of mind. There is none beside You. Halluluyah! Amen.

Reading: Psalm 146 key: vs. 1-2
Halleluyah! Praise Adonai, O my soul!
I will praise Adonai all my life.
I will praise my God yet again.

Attention: The remaining Psalms each have something in common. The each begin with, and end with the same word, Halleluyah. In Hebrew, Hallelu = Praise and Yah = God. Halleluyah means Praise God!

The psalmist expands his praise of God by inserting the word Halleluyah and declares to us, “I will praise Adonai all my life.” Have you ever made such a declaration to God? He even states, “I will praise my God yet again.” Praise never goes out of style, it is a spontaneous of a worshipping heart, and needs to be repeated often. The psalmist demonstrates a heart filled with praise!

The psalmist goes on to list the reasons he gives praise to Adonai.

  • He made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them,
  • He keeps truth forever,
  • He executes justice for the oppressed,
  • He gives bread to the hungry,
  • He sets the prisoner free.
  • He opens the eyes of the blind.
  • He raises those who are bowed down.
  • He loves the righteous.
  • He protects outsiders,
  • He upholds the fatherless and the widow,
  • He thwarts the way of the wicked.

When we see the depth and width of an all-mighty God, we like the psalmist will break into praise. It has been said that our problems are in proportion to our concept of God. If we have a small God, we have big problems. If we have a big God, we have small problems.

Perhaps the problem you face today is the size and concept of your God. You can resolve that today by elevating your awareness and concept of Adonai. When your concept and awareness expand, your praise will increase proportionally.

Action: I will increase and expand my praise today by drafting a list of Adonai’s attributes!

Yield: I give myself to the task of discovering Adonai thru the scriptures every day!

Engage: I want to know Adonai more every day!

Relationship: I will pursue Adonai every day through the scriptures. When I draw near to Him, He draws near to me!

Prayer: Father, thank You for the example of a worshipper’s heart as demonstrated by the psalmist today. Halleluyah! Amen.

Memory Verse: Philippians 3:10
