He did not listen

Prayer: Father, I am ready to listen and receive. Teach me today from Your word. Amen.

Reading: 2 Chronicles 35 key: vs. 20-22 “After all this, when Josiah had set the House in order, King Neco of Egypt came up to fight at Carchemish on the Euphrates and Josiah went out to engage him. But Neco sent messengers to him saying, “What is there between me and you, king of Judah? I am not coming against you today but against the house that wars with me and God has ordered me to hurry. Stop for your sake from meddling with God who is with me, so that He will not destroy you!” Josiah, however, would not turn away from him but disguised himself in order to fight him. He did not listen to Neco’s words from the mouth of God and went to fight him in the plain of Megiddo.” TLV

Attention: We must be able to discern the voice of God. King Josiah was not able to discern God’s voice, and it cost him his life. Do you know God’s voice?

The apostle John records these words of Jesus Messiah, “Yeshua answered them, “I told you, but you don’t believe! The works I do in My Father’s name testify concerning Me. But you don’t believe, because you are not My sheep. My sheep hear My voice. I know them, and they follow Me (John 10:25-27).” How important is it to hear God’s voice and discern God’s voice? Hearing His voice identifies who is His and who is not His according to Jesus’ words.

If you claim to be His and are not hearing His voice, I encourage you to check into the status of your relationship with God.

Josiah did not listen and discern God’s voice, and it cost him his life. He even disguised himself in battle and the arrow still found its mark. The text is silent regarding Josiah even going to a priest and consulting about the truth of Neco’s message.

I encourage you to seek to know and hear God’s voice. Hearing God’s voice is a determining factor in knowing you are one of His own.

Action: I choose to know and hear God’s voice.

Yield: I choose to submit to the Spirit of Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Spirit of God in knowing and hearing the voice of Adonai.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedient relationship with God.

Prayer: Father, help me to know and hear Your voice. Hearing Your voice is vital to my identity as one of Your own. Amen.

Memory Verse: John 10:25-27 “Yeshua answered them, “I told you, but you don’t believe! The works I do in My Father’s name testify concerning Me. But you don’t believe, because you are not My sheep. My sheep hear My voice. I know them, and they follow Me.” TLV
