He Inclines His Ear

Prayer: Father, may I come to hate wickedness like You do and actively speak out against it. May I intentionally pray against the wickedness on earth and the ones that perpetrate it in the heavenlies. Activate Your warring Angels and Your warring saints. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reading: Psalms 10 key: vs. 3-4
For the wicked one boasts about his soul’s desire.
The greedy one curses, reviling Adonai.
The wicked one, with his nose in the air, never seeks Him.
All his thoughts are: “There is no God.”

Attention: When I was in high school, one of the English requirements was exposure to Contemporary Literature. Today’s reading in Psalm 10 sounds a bit like the philosophy of the Theater of the Absurd, where the tenets of this philosophy are: 1. There is no god, 2. There are no absolutes, and 3. Life is absurd or has no meaning.

Man places himself as the center of the universe in this philosophy which displaces any notion of a Supreme Being, Creator, or Messiah. Notice the inner voice and characterization of the wicked in this chapter. He assumes an attitude of arrogance, “the wicked one boasts, …. the greedy one curses reviling Adonai. The wicked one, with his nose in the air, never seeks Him. All his thoughts are, ‘There is no God.”

What is your posture with God? Have you ever seen a defiant toddler? Are you shaking a defiant fist at God or are you raising your hands in praise? Do you walk around sinning deluding yourself by internally saying, “God is not watching?” Or “God has forgotten.” Or “He will never see it.” Oh, how we lie to and deceive ourselves.

Action: I want to be counted among the righteous and not the wicked.

Yield: To surrender is to acknowledge God’s presence is with me 24/7.

Engage: To engage with God is to accept, welcome and invite His involvement in my life.

Relationship: I seek to intentionally know God.

Prayer: Father, how intimate it is to be in Your presence and have Your Spirit dwelling within me. You surround me in and out, completely. Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalm 10: 17
17 You hear, Adonai, the desire of the meek.
You encourage them and incline Your ear.
