Prayer: Father, I am prepared to listen and obey Your Word. Teach me through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Reading: Leviticus 6 key: vs. 7-9a
7 “Now this is the Torah of the grain offering. Aaron’s sons are to offer it to Adonai in front of the altar. 8 So he is to lift up from it his handful of the fine flour of the grain offering, with some of its oil and all the frankincense which is on the grain offering, and burn it up as smoke on the altar for a soothing aroma, as its memorial portion to Adonai. 9 Then what is left from it Aaron and his sons are to eat.
Attention: Have you ever wondered how the Kohen gadol (high priest) and Kohen (priests) sustained themselves. They were tasked with the spiritual care of a nation. How did they have time to raise livestock or plant and harvest a crop? They didn’t farm or even possess land. They lived from the offerings of grain and livestock which were given to them for the sacrifices by fire.
All the instructions for preparing the offering or sacrifice had been given to Moses by Adonai, then relayed to the Kohen gadol (Aaron) and the kohens (his sons), set apart as holy unto Adonai. We will find over the coming days all that the priests were to do in making all the various sacrifice offerings for the people unto Adonai. They were to initiate new festivals and holy days/weeks. The priests also acted as judges hearing the offended and rendering decisions. Priests were the medical consults and practitioners of their day, inspecting various skin diseases or infections.
Just an interesting piece of information. When the Hebrew nation entered the promised land, there was an allotment of land given or appointed to each tribe. The allotments were given to each tribe except the Levites. Who were the Levites? They were the tribe from which all Priests came. Not all Levites were priests, but all priests were Levites. The key verse is found in Joshua 18:7, “But the Levites have no portion among you—for the priesthood of Adonai is their inheritance.”
As New Testament followers of Yeshua, those who follow Yeshua after His death, burial, resurrection and ascension into the heavens, we are called the “priesthood of the believers” because Yeshua is our High Priest. Thus, we no longer need a priest between us and Yeshua to confess our sins unto. He is our High Priest. Likewise, our inheritance, is Yeshua.
Action: I declare today, Yeshua is my inheritance.
Yield: I give the rights to my life to Adonai.
Engage: The act of committing my life to Yeshua.
Relationship: The result of committing my life to Adonai.
Prayer: Father, my inheritance is in Yeshua, the One who died for me on Calvary. He paid it all so that I might be set free from sin and eternal death. Amen.
Memory Verse: Romans 8:6-8
6 For the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Ruach is life and shalom. 7 For the mindset of the flesh is hostile toward God, for it does not submit itself to the law of God—for it cannot. 8 So those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
