Hear My Words

Prayer: Father, we do not expect our family to turn against us, but it happens, even to Moses. Help me today to take comfort in Your words. Amen.

Reading: Numbers 12 key: vs. 6-8
“Hear now My words!” He said. “When there is a prophet of Adonai, I reveal Myself in a vision, I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses. In all My house, he is faithful.  I speak with him face to face, plainly and not in riddles. He even looks at the form of Adonai! Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?”

Attention: Infighting among family members is nothing new. However, this was a different fight against Adonai’s anointed. They were, questioning Adonai. It was not a matter that they could not also hear from Adonai in a dream or a vision. The difference was this, Adonai spoke with Moses ‘face to face.’ No one else in the entire Hebrew nation of that day, met face to face with Adonai, not even Aaron.

One of the characteristics of Adonai is that He is long suffering. Yet, with Miriam, Adonai did not tolerate an attitude of insurrection. She found herself stricken with tza’arat (leprosy). At Moses appeal she suffered for only seven days. She learned a valuable lesson. Her brother Moses was chosen by Adonai and there was a distinction between his anointing and position with Adonai. He spoke face to face with Adonai, she did not.

I have heard messages equating the incident with Miriam that we be cautious about speaking against Adonai’s anointed. Moses was more than anointed, He was chosen. He was the only one in an era of Theocratic governing. Moses held a position with Adonai which few have experienced. This is not to say we should not respect our pastors, elders, evangelists, but let’s not place them in a position of equality with Moses. In New Testament times, post resurrection and ascension, the positions of apostle and prophet were more prominent than current titles. The apostles were responsible for spiritual governing and oversight.

One must wonder if we would not have been better off if we had continued with the offices of the apostle and prophet. How did the current religious systems come to promote the discontinuation of apostleship and prophet? Would we have established denominations or continued as ‘one’ community of faith? Would we have continued with Hebrew scriptures rather than an English equivalent?

Have we like the Hebrew children, elected to go our own way and not the way Adonai has declared? Notice how Adonai spoke to Aaron and Miriam, “Hear now My words!” He declared in very certain terms the difference between them and Moses. Are we guilty of speaking out against Adonai and against what He has declared? Has Adonai’s anger burned against the U.S.A and the nations in the past few years? Is there a shaking of the old religious systems and a New Wine being poured out?

I hope you will ponder these words and think critically about the religious things we have been told over the past 400 years. Interesting that the Hebrew nation was in Egypt for 400 years and then Adonai brought them out of slavery. Might He be doing a course correction now as He did then?

Action: I choose to do life in tandem with the Holy Spirit. Open my eyes Lord to see Your ways.

Yield: I give my will over to Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage with Adonai in my journey of life.

Relationship: I choose to live in relationship with Messiah and His Spirit.

Prayer: Father, I welcome a course correction. May we be transformed as a people into Your likeness. Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 8:29-30
29 For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified, He also glorified.
