His Design

Prayer: Father, I pray for insight and clarity in the study of Your Word this morning. May the reading of Psalms inspire and illuminate my mind and my heart as I draw closer to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 60 key: vs. 11-14
11 Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
12 Should it not be You, O God—
who spurned us and no longer goes out with our armies?
13 Give us aid against the adversary,
for the help of man is worthless.
14 With God we will do mighty things,
and He will trample our foes.

Attention: This is a rich passage of scripture today. David is recounting how God had spurned His nation in previous battles with other kings. He charges God with making “Your people see hardship” (vs.5). God had given the Hebrew nation a battle strategy in a former battle which I wonder if they were not utilizing. When they consulted God through priests and prophets, God instructed them whether to go to battle or not. When God was consulted and God sent them, they were victorious. When Joshua inquired of God, he and the nation were invincible. When Moses held his hands up, they were victorious. David was a smart man.

Notice where the battle was located which David writes of, the “Valley of Salt.” The location is not coincidence. We are called to be “salt and light” (Matthew 5:13-16). The questions we need to ask ourselves, “Am I being salt and light in my home, my community, and my work?” Salt can season and cure, while light has the ability to expose and illuminate. I have a purpose and you have a purpose. Ekklesia have a purpose to be salt and light and be a governing body here on earth. Most likely we will not govern, if we have lost being salt and light. Repent, reconcile, ask God to renew, restore and repurpose your life. Then engage in life with God.

I propose as my request today David’s final comments, “Give us aid against the adversary, for the help of man is worthless. With God we will do mighty things, and He will trample our foes.” I will add, may God go before us into battle. When He goes before us, He prepares the way and parts the waters.

Action: I will get my vertical relationship realigned today. I want to be who You designed me to be.

Yield: I am yielded when my heart and mind is aligned with God.

Engaged: I am actively involved with God when I engage with the process of becoming who He designed me to be.

Relationship: I am in full relationship when I am engaged in the life process of being who He designed.

Prayer: Father, I want to be who You want me to be! I am most fulfilled when I live life by Your design. Order my steps today, I pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Memory Verse: 2 Chronicles 20:20b “Believe in Adonai your God and you will be confirmed. Trust in His prophets and you will succeed.”
