Prayer: Father, may I recount historically what You have done in my life and my nation. Praise You for Your providential care. I rejoice in You as the One who orders my steps. Amen.
Reading: Psalm 114 key: vs. 7
7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
Attention: Have you ever taken a moment to reflect on your life journey with Adonai? I am sixty years with the Lord. A few years ago, I felt prompted to attend worship at the church in which I attended as a child with my family. The pastoral leadership had changed, so I introduced myself as a childhood member and inquired about any information they would have on my baptismal date. I knew my baptism took place when I was nine years old, 1961. So, they checked the records and confirmed it took place on July 6th. So, I use that date as my Born-again anniversary.
Many things I could share with you about Adonai’s providence over the years. His provision of work, food, education, and health. Dark times and times of celebration and rejoicing. His presence has always been there for me. Was I distant at times? Yes. Did I have periods where I was trying to figure life out and rebelling? Yes. But there was a defining time when I reconciled with Adonai and my life has been transformed through His Word and the Spirit.
The psalmist today makes the observation that the presence of the Lord changes everything around us and in us. He causes the sea to flee, the mountains to skip, and the earth to tremble. He causes all creation to sing and speak. He causes men to repent and seek reconciliation.
Today’s psalm is a historical overview of what Adonai’s presence did for the nation of Israel. His recollection of Adonai’s actions expresses his heartfelt gratitude and praise.
Has Adonai brought you through hardship, disaster, poverty, health scares, unemployment, divorce, widowhood, barrenness, and a pandemic? Did He open the door and bring you through the flood?
Take time today to recount the things Adonai’s presence has brought to your life and your family!
Action: I will recount today the actions which Adonai has performed in my life and give Him praise.
Yield: Praise results from a yielded heart.
Engage: I am engaged with the Holy Spirit when I praise Adonai.
Relationship: Adonai’s steadfast love combined with my expression of my heart love, brings full relationship with Him and my family.
Prayer: Father, help me to remember Your faithfulness. In reflecting and recounting Your actions of love, my heart overflows with gratitude and praise. Amen.
Memory Verse: Matthew 18:20
20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.”
