Prayer: Father, may I come to understand that that which You have set apart is holy unto You. Amen.
Reading: Joshua 5 key: vs. 15
15 Then the commander of Adonai’s army replied to Joshua, “Take your sandal off of your foot, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
Attention: When King David feared that his sin would separate him from Adonai, he prays, “Do not cast me from Your presence— take not Your Ruach ha-Kodesh from me (Psalms 51:13).” David was anointed by God to be His set apart instrument to rule the Hebrew nation. He knew his sin had separated himself from Adonai and he sought restoration through repentance.
Joshua (whose name means “Yahweh delivered”), is being taught a valuable lesson by the commander of Adonai’s army. This divine visitation elicits one question from Joshua’s mouth, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” The commanders answer, “Neither.”
How many times have you heard someone say, God’s on our side, or Thank God, He’s on our side. This verse casts a whole new light on that belief.
We are either on God’s (Adonai’s) side or we are not. He is the Supreme Authority (Ruler) of heaven and earth. There is none higher. This is why Joshua “fell on his face to the ground and worshipped.” He was not worshipping the representative of God, but the One who sent him.
Adonai is sending us the same message today via the commander, through Joshua’s recording. The Word of God is still speaking today. Are you listening?
Action: I choose to be set apart holy unto Adonai.
Yield: I choose to yield to the holiness of Adonai.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit’s anointing.
Relationship: I choose to humble myself to the Sovereignty of Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I stand in awe of You. I choose to declare my allegiance to You and Your kingdom. I am on Your side, aligned with You. Amen.
