Prayer: Father, I never feel good about life when I am downcast. I pray that You will lift my head and my countenance today. You bring life, joy, and peace. Amen.
Reading: Psalm 35 key: vs. 17-20
17 My Lord, how long will You look on?
Rescue my soul from their ravages—
my solitary existence from the lions.
18 I praise You in the great assembly,
acclaiming You among a throng of people.
19 Do not let my deceitful enemies gloat over me without cause,
nor let those who hate me for nothing wink an eye.[a]
20 For they never speak shalom,
but devise deceitful words against the quiet ones in the land.
Attention: I recognize a certain spirit of oppression over the entire earth today. I perceive a certain prevailing spirit of despair from all human beings and all cultures.
David today is feeling the angst of opposition from his enemies, and he didn’t even have social media, twitter, or cable news. He was listening and observing the people. He is crying out to Adonai for vindication and rescuing, “according to Your justice (vs. 24).”
God’s justice is different than man’s. He knows our hearts. He knows His character and veracity. He cannot deny Himself and He never changes. I have mood shifts and changes. He is entirely consistent. He never changes.
Aren’t you glad that He never changes. I want to introduce you to S.M. Lockridge. Pastor Lockridge is no longer with us except in audio, video, and print. On occasion when I need a pick me up, I listen to one of his renditions of That’s My King. If you have never heard him, there is a link below to listen to That’s My King.
Action: I recognize Adonai as my vindication, rescue, and the source of justice.
Yield: Adonai is my source of justice.
Engage: I look to Adonai for justice.
Relationship: Adonai assumes His rightful position in my life when I look to Him as the source of justice.
Prayer: Father, You are my sustainer, redeemer, my all in all. I run to You. I look to You. You are the source of justice. Amen.
