I Called My Son

Prayer: Father, I thank You for the knowledge You gave Hosea and other prophets like Isaiah, about the coming Messiah. Throughout the Old Testament, You directed Your people to Your Son. Thank You! Amen.

Reading: Hosea 11 key: vs. 1 “When Israel was a youth I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.” TLV

Attention:  Adonai is prophesying past and future in the first verse. Who is Israel? We must realize that Israel is both a man and a nation. Israel’s original name was Jacob. The story of his birth is found in Genesis 25:19ff. His mother, Rebekah, seeks Adonai about the rumbling in her body, and Adonai reveals that she has twin boys about to be born. They are “Two nations” and the older will serve the younger. In the blessing which Jacob receives from Isaac (his father), he is told, “May those who curse you be cursed and may those who bless you be blessed (Genesis 27:29b).” Sound familiar? Abram was told by God of the blessing on Israel (Genesis 12:3), as well as Moses (Numbers 24:9b).

My wife and I were just talking today about the blessing of God upon Israel in the face of the opposition of seemingly the entire world. The only explanation of Israel’s success can be Adonai. Have you noticed in the writings of Ezekiel last month, that God declares to Israel, “They will know that I, Adonai their God, am with them. They, the house of Israel, are My people.” It is a declaration of Adonai. “So you, My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, you are human, and I am your God.” It is a declaration of Adonai Elohim (Ezekiel 34:30-31).”

In fighting against Israel, the nations are fighting against God. He will prevail and show Himself superior and supreme to all other gods.

A final comment, if you want to understand the prophetic nature of God, read Matthew 2. It is the account of Messiah’s birth and explains God calling his Son “out of Egypt.”

Adonai is supreme and He will show Himself supreme in caring for Israel.

Action: I choose to embrace the Sovereignty of God to Israel and the nations.

Yield: I choose to submit to the supremacy of Adonai over all things.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit moving in power with Israel.

Relationship: I choose to live in relationship with Adonai and His Spirit.

Prayer: Father, the scriptures seem blatantly clear about Your blessing of Israel and the blessing of others (nations) who bless Israel. Awaken Your followers, remind Your followers of this truth. Amen.

Memory Verse: Ezekiel 34:30-31 “They will know that I, Adonai their God, am with them. They, the house of Israel, are My people.” It is a declaration of Adonai. “So you, My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, you are human, and I am your God.” It is a declaration of Adonai Elohim.”
