I Will Remember

Prayer: Father, how forgetful I become when I try to go my own way. Help me to remember Your laws and commandments. They are life to me. Amen.

Reading: Deuteronomy 8 key: vs. 2-3
You are to remember all the way that Adonai your God has led you these 40 years in the wilderness—in order to humble you, to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His mitzvot or not. He afflicted you and let you hunger, then He fed you manna—which neither you nor your fathers had known—in order to make you understand that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of Adonai.

Attention: I remember seeing a movie in the early nineties which featured Billy Crystal and a couple city friends who decided to take a once in a lifetime trip experiencing an old west cattle drive. The movie was appropriately titled, “City Slickers.” Jack Palance plays a crusty old cowboy named “Curly.” He dispenses his cowboy wisdom by saying there was “1” thing they needed to remember, just one thing. The problem is, he never tells them or us what that one thing is.

Moses tells the Hebrew nation, their priority is “remembering Adonai.” Remember the ways that He led you “these 40 years in the wilderness.” The purpose: “to humble you, test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His mitzvot or not. He afflicted you with hunger, then He fed you manna—which neither you nor your fathers had known—in order to make you understand that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of Adonai.”

Most women probably will not appreciate the rest of what Moses communicated about those 40 years, but here goes: “Neither did your clothes wear out on you, nor did your foot swell.” How would you like to wear the same clothes for forty years? Neither did their feet swell. That is quite an accomplishment for people walking through the desert. Are you being tested today, to be humbled? Are you guilty like they were of not remembering Adonai and all He had done for them?

God establishes that man needs spiritual food as well as physical food. We are not well nourished if we do not have spiritual food. If we neglect our spiritual need of God, our soul is not fed, and we are spiritually starving ourselves.

Yeshua called those who did not know Him, “white-washed tombs (Matthew 23:27).” If they did not know Him, they did not know the Father (God). Because of the life which comes from Yeshua, He is called the Bread of Life and Living Water. If we do not have the Spirit of the living God, we are dead men.

If you have not the Spirit of God, I encourage you today to have an encounter with the Living God Adonai. Invite the Holy Spirit to take up residence within you and transform your life. True living is living in the Spirit, worshipping in the Spirit and having the Spirit indwell you. Live life in the power of the Holy Spirit beginning today!

Action: Forgive my forgetfulness today, Yeshua. I will remember today all that you have done over the past 40 years in providing for me.

Yield: I yield my mind today to Adonai, remembering what He has done for me.

Engage: I choose to engage with Adonai in this life journey.

Relationship: I choose to remember what Adonai has done for me.

Prayer: Father, how forgetful I have gotten at times regarding the ways you have provided for me and my family over the past 40 years. Praise You! Thank You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Galatians 5:25-26
25 If we live by the Ruach, let us also walk by the Ruach26 Let us not become conceited—provoking one another, envying one another.
