Prayer: Father, is there a principle of the declaration of Adonai which applies to me today? Open my eyes and ears to hear Your Word. Amen.
Reading: Ezekiel 3 key: vs. 18-19 “When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak to warn the wicked of his wicked way, to save his life, that wicked person will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood from your hand. Yet you, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.” TLV
Attention: Ezekiel was appointed a “watchman” by Adonai, to Israel. A watchman was a man who stood on the wall watching for danger. If danger was spotted, he was to alert the people within the walls. Ezekiel was appointed to declare as a watchman, the danger approaching Israel. He was not responsible for them listening or heeding his declaration of alert. However, he would be responsible if he did not summon the alert and warn Israel. A servant watchman would be implicit in murder if he did not warn.
In a comparable way, we are watchmen, both prophet and follower of Yeshua. The prophet is a watchman of both those who are born again and those who are not. The New Testament prophet gives the warning to all people, whether born again or not. We are all a watchman at some level, especially if we are born of the Spirit of God. When we are followers of Yeshus, we care for the soul condition of the lost and of those who are “righteous” but have become entangled in sin, we are to restore a brother in a spirit of gentleness. Are we willing to correct a brother? We are told we may be saving him from destruction.
Being a watchman is serious business. We who are watchmen are responsible for declaring danger corporately and individually, to the lost and to the saved.
Action: I choose to be a watchman to my family, friends, community, and nation if called to do so.
Yield: I choose to submit to the leading of the Spirit.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in declaring His Word.
Relationship: I choose to live in obedient relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, the role of a watchman is serious. May we take our roles seriously before You. Amen.
Memory Verse: Galatians 6:1 “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught doing something wrong, you who are directed by the Ruach, restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness—looking closely at yourself so you are not tempted also.” TLV
