Prayer: Father, obedience is so crucial to a relationship with You. Obedience is a contingency upon the fulfillment of Your word. Thank You for being patient with me. Amen.
Reading: Zechariah 6 key: vs. 15 “Those who are far off will come and build in the Temple of Adonai.” Then you will know that Adonai-Tzva’ot has sent me to you. It will come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of Adonai your God.” TLV
Attention: Did your earthly father ever offer you rewards for good behavior? Maybe he said something like, “if you are good, I’ll take you out for ice cream tonight!” Did you know that Adonai (God) does the same, He offers conditional rewards? Did you see the last sentence of chapter 6 today. The angel declaring for Adonai, told Zechariah to tell the people of Israel that God’s message would “come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of Adonai your God.” That little two letter word is a word which is conditional, “if you do this, I will do what I have declared!”
Here are a few examples from Scripture:
- 2 Chronicles 7:14 “(If) when My people, 0ver whom My Name is called, humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
- 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
- Isaiah 1: 19-20 “If you are willing and obey, you will eat the good of the land. But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured with the sword.” For the mouth of Adonai has spoken.”
- John 14:15 ““If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
Such a powerful word is this tiny conjunction, “if.” It carries so much impact. So much is determined by obedience to Adonai.
What is disobedience you ask? It is as simple as not doing what you know to be right. Yeshua’s half-brother Jacob (James) says it this way; “Therefore whoever knows the right thing to do and does not do it—for him it is sin (4:17).”
Adonai said “if” the nation of Israel would obey His voice, He would forgive their sin and heal their land.” Adonai offers the same for us and our nation.
Action: I choose to live in obedience to Adonai and His word.
Yield: I choose to submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit.
Engage: I choose to engage in the lifestyle of obedience to Adonai.
Relationship: I choose to live in holy, obedient, intimate relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the prophets and the documentation of Your message and will for Israel and us. May we live obedient lifestyles unto You. Amen.
Memory Verse: Jacob (James) 4:17 “Therefore whoever knows the right thing to do and does not do it—for him it is sin.”
