If Only I Knew

Prayer: Father, for those who do not know where to find You, I ask that You reveal Yourself to them. Your Word has the answer, if only they will look inside Your Word to find it. Amen.

Reading: Job 23 key: vs. 3-4
If only I knew where to find Him;
    if only I could go to His dwelling.
I would lay out my case before Him
    and fill my mouth with arguments.

Attention: It seems almost incredulous to think that someone like Job would utter those words, “If only I knew where to find Him.” For just a couple chapters prior, he says these words, “Yet they say to God, Leave us alone! We have no desire to know Your ways (21:13).” Job’s words are very contemporary. The world at large is not looking for God, nor are they interested in finding Him.

Truth is, He has shown Himself to us and we have refused to see, choosing instead to accept a lie instead of the truth (Romans 1: 18-22; 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11).

The simple answer is this, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you will search for Me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).” This is what I call buried treasure, because it is hidden within the books of the Bible, and unless one digs and searches for it, they will not find it.

Later in Job’s book, he dialogues with Adonai. He has found God and now speaks with Him. Like Job, you will find that God was there all the time. Like Job, we discover that He is God, and we are not. Like Job, may we repent and seek restoration. Blessed be the name of the Lord!

If, like Job, you do not know where to look for God, I encourage you to begin with the Bible. It was written for our instruction. Start with the beginning and then read sequentially. He will reveal Himself if you seek Him with all your heart.

Action: I embrace that God wants me to seek Him and He wants to be found by me. I will seek Him daily through His written Word.

Yield: When I surrender to search for God, He will be found when I do so with all my heart.

Engage: Relationship is done together with God.

Relationship: I can find God when I seek Him with all my heart.

Prayer: Father, it is so hard, yet so simple. Am I seeking You with all my heart?  Amen.

Memory Verse: Jeremiah 29:13
13 You will seek Me and find Me, when you will search for Me with all your heart.
